Heavy Barrel Pre-64 & Rust Blue

Had this rifle in its factory form of a 30-06 sporter. Got on an auction site and found this Douglas tube that was already chambered and had the extractor cut. It was in the white.

I rust blued the barrel and had my local gun plumber screw the works together. The bluing is not my best effort. The handguns I have done looked really good and also a couple long guns. Despite that, I think the finish looks about right for this particular build.

Wow, real rust bluing? 20 years ago I used to know guys in double gun (SxS shotguns) who still did old fashion rust bluing but I believe I'd have a hard time finding anyone to do that now.

While more work is involved, rust bluing is not hard but you need to know the humidity in your area. Don't need sweat boxes in some areas and in others you do.

I got a Winchester model 54 that looks eerily similar to this build. Nice rifle.
