I have a project going where I will eventually have a carbon Sendero barrel in a Manners stock. Until then, I’m trying to get a steel barrel to use in the same stock for a while before rebarreling to the carbon Sendero.

Anybody have experience running a Heavy Sporter or up to a Heavy Bull Sporter contoured barrel in a larger, Sendero channeled stock?

I don’t want the steel barrel to be absurdly thin sitting in the Sendero channel, but I also don’t want to step up to a really heavy contour just to fit the channel perfectly.

Sporter steel barrels (not heavy sporter even) in a big assed barrel channel is kind of my default setup now. Why does it matter if there is a gap?

It's funny world out there. All kinds of people buying chassis because they think they look cool. many result in large gaps in barrel channel. Grayboe and Manners makes stocks without channels now to get rid of the headache of needing to make 20 different barrel channel configs, i'd be onboard with that being default config for most stocks. Unless a guy is building a classically styled rifle, all these new options are abominations on classic style anyway.

lol I guess your right. I’d prefer to stick with the heavy sporter rather than an overly thicc barrel for my usage (hunting rifle). I can’t find many examples to see it though. Just trying to research the best I can before moving forward with it.

Benchmark #4 (smaller than a bartlein #3) in a proof sendero contour inlet. Definitely no worries about barrel contact-
