just wanted to say hello. i have been watching this forum for about 2 months now as a guest. and like what i see. lots of decisions i made was based off of members recommendations to others. finally decided to post up.

I LOVE all guns. and respect any one that believe in the 2nd amendment.

I have not owned my rifle long and just started building my first one about a month ago. i was going to build a bolt action rifle first but with a change of heart, i decided a AR platform should go first then build my dream bolt action gun later.

im building her for Long range precision. my goal is to hit 3 pop cans at 1000 yards with only 6 round. i don't think that's asking much? lol
i will practice as much as it takes to do this. and upgrade my gun tell it is possible. its my fun gun. long range and coyote killer. i would hunt with it but im a Archer by heart. and i go for archery hunts over rifle any day. i like the challenge of stocking deer/elk to get with in 50 yards, that's just me though. well back on subject

this is what i got so far.
DPMS LR-308

--UPGRADES I MADE SO FAR--
trigger: Geissele SSA-E
Barrel: stock dpms 16" barrel
Hand guard: Troy alpha free float 12"
Stock: magpul PRS
Grip: Ergo with shelf
fore grip: magpul AFG2
Bipod: B&T atlas
bcm charging handle
Scope: Osprey (temporary solution)
scope mount: 20 moa rail adapter
Muzzle: Griffin Armament 7.62 flash comp (same as the M4SD ii just bigger and well for my .308 thread)
im sure im forgetting more things.

--UPGRADES I WANT TO GET STILL--
-18" custom heavy barrel from John Benjamin (it is a highly recommended barrel from lots of guys in the northwest.)
the guy is from southern OR
UPDATE: maybe a 20" still doing research. with my set up so far i hear that anything after 20 you don't gain enough Velocity they say the sweet spot is between 18-20" barrels

-upgraded BCG (need to do research before i pick one)
-on the fence between NF ATACR and the razor HD GEN ii
(leaning towards the RazorHD though. waiting for more solid reviews)
ps. ILya (Koshkin) thank you for your great review on this. and Rob01 talks highly of it on one of the postings i have viewed
-and a good QD style mount. maybe something with a 20moa slope.

and maybe more things as time goes by. as of now im happy
here are some pictures i took a few weeks ago. (before i put on the comp)

Welcome to the Hide, looks like you have done your homework & now just need to get out and shoot a lot.

Adjustable gas block helps,,, & a 1/2"x1/2" shim of aluminum/brass (? 3 times the thickness of a pop can side) under the rear end of the rail will get you another 10MOA for playing out long

are you talking about the accu wedge that goes between the upper and lower?
any pictures of what you are talking about? first im hearing about this.

for the adjustable gas block, i went with a heavy buffer. almost twice the weight of the original. and with that i need the non adjustable block.

I added aluminum shim at the rear, between my action rail / and MOA rail to get another 10moa of elevation - helps it reach out farther :) ( Badger 20moa rail & 10moa shim lets me dial 1300yds with my DPMS 260 )
