Ok I ordered an A-Alpha Halfshell with universal shroud from Pro-Tec in May, hasn't been shipped yet, card hasn't been charged, emailed them, they said it'd definitely be shipped by August, didn't ship, no reply to subsequent emails and noone answers the damn phone

So. Where else can I get one or something I can mount a -14 to on my head. Would like light, low-profile, able to use ear-pro with it.

Re: Helmet

The PT helmet folks have been on back order status for several months now. We just now started getting our back orders in.

I agree with the other poster on the OPS Jumps, they're indeed something else for comfort and stability while wearing NODS.

Surprisingly, we have some in stock except for M/L tan and L/XL black for a few weeks.

Cannot compare as I do not own any other ones, </div></div>

Did you mount the light to the rail or is it the Surefire helmet light? I cant get my Surefire helmet light to clamp down, the helmet is to thin.

Indeed the SF helmet lights are made for fitting to Kevlar, bout .250 thick. Your best bet is to put a spacer of wood some other light weight material so you can attach the light.

Re: Helmet

Vic is correct. I put a mil spec rail on the left side and have a SF hand held/weapon mounted lite attached to it. NOT IR capable but very bright in white light.

I would include a pic as it works out great. Not cheap but ideal for all I do. Currently overseas so no access to the set up. It is a one battery 123 model and no problem with balance and if it needs to be taken off it is very easy.

Shim to build up thickness as Vic has suggested, or purchase the Tango Down adapter that permits interface of the Surefire helmet light to the Ops-Core helmet accessory rail or any picatinny rail interface.

Yep, that's it. Thanks for posting IR-V!

Jeff over at TG would be none too happy I forgot about this piece of good kit.

You're welcome, Vic!

At one time I believe he was considering to produce a variant with a pivoting interface ... that would help compensate for the Surefire helmet light sitting up a bit high (above eye level) when mounted on helmet rail.
