Help choosing AR-10 optic MOUNT

I’m building AR10. Continuous picattinny rail. Need Mount suggestions for a vortex razor 4.5-27x56.

I’m considering a ZRO Delta or American Defense Mfg. But I’m open to other suggestions. Also presume I’ll need 1.5” high mount for objective clearance.

Thanks for your reply. Do you have experience with this mount? I’ve heard mixed things about their reliability to maintain zero which may be due to their clamping hinge at the top (uses jaw clamp mechanism).

I’m building with intent to make this as accurate as possible for a gas gun. I guess that’s my concern.

My other 2 questions are:
- is there a type of mount base that is more reliable (lever Vs dual lever Vs screw)?
- should I expect to need a 20 MOA taper built into the mount since the optic I’ll be using has 113.5 MOA of elevation adjustment?
 
Lots of good cantilever mounts depending on what you want to spend. F3R machine is pretty hard to beat for the money if weight isn’t a concern, they’re probably a little bulkier then most.

Spuhr is great if you don’t mind spending the extra money but I don’t think it’ll gain you anything over something like the F3R that’s nearly half the price. Vortex precision series is nice like mentioned above, the precision mount is make by seekins and high quality, I run one on one of my ARs but on a much lighter scope. Can’t see why it wouldn’t be fine with a heavier scope but it’s a pretty lightweight mount.

for my AR-10, with a Athlon 4.5-29x56, I'm using a ADM Recon-S (no cantilever), 34mm, std height, with 40MOA built in. Using the same mount also with my NF ATACR 7-35x56. The AR-10 upper receiver has enough pic rail length that a cantilever scope mount is not necessary, the ADM-Recon-S is a "straight up" configuration, no cantilever (less flex, more rigid). plenty of clearance at the front of the scope to the HG pic rail.

I do. It's what I have on my SP10 with a Gen 2 Razor as well. I'm not sure what you're referring to when you say the clamping hinge, but I have no issues with maintaining zero

113.5 MOA divided by 2 is 57 MOA. If your receiver bore is reasonably aligned with your optic mechanical zero axis, you'll be fine with 20MOA or 40MOA, as long as it's less than 57 MOA. your zero will just be lower in the elevation turret travel, with more elevation dialing adjustment capability.

as long as your upper receiver and barrel aren't "janky".

I have a GDI mounted on a Wilson 11" 6.8, a Spuhr on 14.5" SR-25 and LaRue LT111 on 16" OBR. All have performed nicely with return to zero as I usually do not keep the scopes mounted in their respective bags. In the 2010 International Sniper Competition service members Homyer & Gianelli won first place using 16" & 18" LaRue OBR’s, Night Force Scopes w/ Horus recticles and LaRue QD mounts. All are tier one qd mounts.

JMHO, but if you need more than 15 MOA of elevation for your 100yd zero, might want to consider lapping the front face of your upper receiver for better bore axis alignment. I do lap all of mine...

could also be due to the quality, precision of the upper receiver machining, or barrel extension, barrel fit to barrel extension. i.e. stop using BCA or Delta Team Tactical stuff.

but like I said, JMHO, YMMV, I haven't had any issues with my 40 MOA Recon-S mounts with my scopes (26" barrel 6.5CM). Perhaps I erroneously assumed this was for a precision build, not a Lego-assembly CQB blaster.

Im not sure about other scopes but my Burris has about 20moa of travel biased toward zero so that theres more on the elevation side to dial. out of 90moa total I could only get away with 35moa max. I tried 40moa and I couldnt dial the scope back enough to zero the rifle.

the physical center of the scopes range of travel is not the zero for the rifle. doing the math based of specs and trying to maximize cant from that is likely to end in disappointment.
