Rifle Scopes Help choosing new scope

Hello,
I just joined this forum and am new to long range shooting. Most of my experience is with CQB and 3Gun. Up here in Canada our 3Gun is mostly limited to within 100yrds.

I recently purchased a new Savage 10TR. It will be my first long range rig. I'm thinking of putting a Vortex PST 6-24x50 FFP scope on it. I will be shooting mainly at Canadian military bases with distances out to 1000 meters. Will that be enough magnification?

I like the Vortex brand because there is a warranty center near my home in case of any problems.

I have a Razor HD Gen2 1-6 on my JP upper for 3Gun and love it.

I had a vortex just like the one you ask about except in a second focal plane on a savage heavy barrel 308 and it worked well. I sold the complete rifle. I only got to shoot to about 700 yards with it and it did quite well that far, sometimes I would not be on 24 power. So yes, I think it will work fine, I think it has plenty of power. Vortex is a top notch company. Welcome to the site.

24x is plenty of magnification. The clarity of glass is more important when shooting at long range. Vortex is a great company and they make great scopes. I started shooting long range comps with a 4-16 PST.
