Having some issues tracking down a genuine m70 post 64 trigger guard. This one in particular has a series of round hole/dimples on the top but I haven’t seen that in other post 64 guards I’ve referenced. I’ve included a photo from a page of one round war with a m70 before and after it’s been trimmed to fit a m40a1 and there are none of these dimples present.

Any help would be appreciated

Skunk is spot on in his assessment. Finding an original steel set is really hard. Then you have to pay someone to modify them unless you are good at that stuff.

Honestly I am not a huge fan of the PTG after some of the stories I heard, but they do make a set of repo bottom metal that is pretty spot on to real ones. They even come modified and ready to go.

Here is a set of PTG's vs actual take off original USMC parts. Btw if PTG doesn't have any I have another set I don't need.

Aluminum, agreed. There’s not really a surefire way I know of (besides a magnet :) ) but the steel ones tend to have sharper internal edges. They were also blued so they wear a bit differently than the aluminum ones.
