Help, JP Adj Gas Block set screw backs out??

I googled the topic, everyone was saying put blue or red loctite on the threads. Seems like I will never be able to remove it or adjust it. What do you guys do? I will be running with and without a supressor. That little screw just wont stay put.

I put blue on mine and it seems to work well for me

Adam's advice is solid.

I actually got a pack of flat head bolts the same size and thread pattern and cut them to proper size. This was I can visually tell if they have moved. I have a screw for unsuppressed and extras to cut for when my "quiet time piece" clears.

Blue loctite is not a solid setting loctite per se, it is made so that the fastener may be removed with normal hand tools. The only drawback is that the loctite will wear away with frequent use. Best option is to use blue loctite and keep some in your range bag. Reapply as needed.

I did blue loctite at first but had issues with it. I then did a dot of red and I have had no issues since. Ive just heard that red will NOT ever let go unless its heated up to some ungodly temp. how true that is idk, but im just glad i got it perfect before it set.

Thanks guys, my JP has 8 screws that hold two sides together for my ar10. I would like to see Ryans screw fix. I appreciate everyones help. I will go with the blue till I get a chance to see Ryans fix in person. Thanks again and at least I wont loose it till I get a better solution. I really thought the blue wouldnt let go with such a small screw.

I have access to an amazing assortment of setscrews at work so I selected two with the proper threads and proceeded to shorten them. One was shortened from both ends till I could easily get a second one in behind it The second was cut of so that it was just a setscrew without a shaft. Basically it was two or three threads worth of the engagement slot for my allen set. Tighten the second screw down against the first and it will never move.

The only problem I see with the second set screw is then you may crush the threads and lose the ability to adjust the gas screw to allow for use with and without a suppressor. You mar up a steel screw and back it out of the aluminum gas block, the aluminum will give and mess up the threads. If you never want it to move and never plan on adjusting it then just use red loctite.

In fairness the idea was not mine. Deadeye came up with the idea and the proper screws. Maybe he will post a pic if he has any.

Syrac makes a gas block with a spring loaded detent button that locks the adjustment screw. JP rebrands it and sells it with their name on it. They go for about 120 and you don't have to screw with loctite.

The syrac is a .750 gas block. He has a .936 so he would need to have the barrel machined down or get a new barrel.

I keep an old wood burning tool around for getting loc-tighted screws out. I just put the wood burning tool onto the loc-tighted screw, and let it set until just the screw gets hot enough...they come right out. That way I don't have to put a torch to the entire area.

I had the same issue with my JP block. Stupid screw popped out in the middle of shooting, and all of a sudden I had a one-shot-wonder rifle. I ended up sticking it in there with red loctite, and actually just sold the rifle, so ic ouuldn't tell you how well it worked.
