Re: Help me figure out what this is worth.

Custom guns, like custom cars, never return the amount that people put into building them. Although the sum of the parts can add up to a substantial amount, the true cash sale value is usually not even close to what the person put into buying the parts to assemble the rifle.

Factory built custom rifles usually retain a bit more of their purchase price on resale, although simply because they are custom rifles built to someone else's ideal, buyers always seem to hammer the seller on purchase price when buying.

I think if you add up the purchase price of the parts, and are able to recover 75% of that price you will be doing well.

I have a 5.56mm that I built, and the parts cost close to $1100, but I would be surprised if I were able to recover $850 from it. ($825 would be 75% of $1100 to same you from having to do the math)

All the above presumes that none of the parts have gouges, bad wear spots or other cosmetic or use issues that would further reduce the value.

Even if you never fired the rifle, most people treat any firearm not coming out of the original factory box at the FFl dealers place to be a "used" firearm, and affix a price accordingly. People just have an aversion to pay full retail value unless they are the ones making the original purchase. ( Collector's firearms are an exception if unfired, action unworked, and in pristine condition in the original packaging.)

I sort of doubt that you will get anyone on this web site to give you an actual dollar value on this firearm without having it in their possession to evaluate it. Some web sites actually have prohibitions against this procedure.

A good way to find out the value of your firearm would be to compare it to similar firearms for sale on Gunbroker, Guntrader, elitedealseeker.com, and other firearms sale sites. This will give you an idea of what similar firearms are selling for, and you can set your value from there. For insurance appraisal values, ask a local gun shop for an appraisal. Brace yourself.

It is a nice build with good components. Neat cartridge too.

Re: Help me figure out what this is worth.

thanks. This is actually a build that i am considering trading for. I'll be trading a Kimber Crimson Ultra Carry for it. The kimber is used, and i paid 1050 for it.

The rifle will come with a CAA single piece mount, 6 new in packaging mags, a soft carry case, and a set of magpul BUIS.

The rifle is unfired, and has absolutely no flaws, and the man who build it is a professional armorer who works for a local PD in florida. His builds are usually quality from what i can ascertain.

I'm just trying to determine if the value that i'm getting is equal to what i'm giving up.
