Help me pick a drag bag.

Hello all,

Looking to purchase a drag bag, Currently own a cheaper one that I would like to replace with a drag bag of quality. I have narrowed it down to 3 choices. This bag will be used for range trips. When I travel long distances to shooting classes or hunting trips, I will place a rifle in the bag and then put it into a pelican case. They all seem to have slight differences. The Triad bag is $100 cheaper but is made with 500d cordura and the other two with 1000d cordura. The 500d may be more rugged then I'll ever need but was hoping to get personal experiences from anyone who's owned these bags. I hope this will be the last drag bag I will every buy.

I have a Tac Ops and love it, but a friend has a Eberlstock that is every bit as nice in my opinion in.

The eagle drag bag has treated me right for years, I need to get the zipper fixed, it unfortunately got overloaded with those little stickers on my last stock and it ruptured. But the bag has been with me for 5 years and before that it was with another guy in my team. My only complaint is that it does not have external pouches for a tripod or binos. Other then that I love it.

Edit: I have the eberlistock one as well but it doesnt get used, it appears to be just as overbuilt as the eagle one but it just sits in a kit bag.

My work rifle is in the Triad bag. It's pretty solid gear. I've only used it back and forth to the range though

Thanks for all the input guys. Been thinking a lot about it and am going to just go with the triad bag. I'm just a recreational shooter and I can get the triad bag and a few other things I have been looking at for the price of the others bags. It wont be drug or thrown around in the field so Im sure it will last me a long while before the need(want) to upgrade happens again.

I have a Tac Ops and it's a great bag.

but I don't use it. It's my second bag if I bring a second rifle somewhere.

I pack my rifle in an Eberlestock GS II.

Now the Eberlestock has issue if it comes to actually put the pack on your shoulders but for packing rifle, spotter, shooting bags, tools, magazines, cold weather gear, food, it blows the drab bag away without being too bulky.

Reconsider why you want the drag bag. If you are an officer in a cruiser with a duty gun it may be right. If you are just out to enjoy your shooting time and want your shit with you get something else.

My suggestion an economical, nicely featured bag like the Triad and some sort of scabbard pack for most of your use.

Sadly there are no doing everything tools in this sport.

I have a Tac Ops and Eberlestock now and have owned a Tactical Tailor. The Tac Ops is very nice and well made. Nice options like the mat. The Eberlestock allows for two rifles to be put in and a more modular design being able to take off the outer pouches. If I had to choose one I would probably go with the Eberlestock as I like being able to get an extra rifle in there is I need. I use both as my range bags for tossing in the truck and going to the range. I have room in the outer pouches for ears, ammo etc.

I like both better than the Tactical Tailor version.

Check out the VooDoo drag bag/shooting mat. I think its similar to the eagles but cheaper( $200 ish).

I have the TAC ops drag bag and it works great for me. The range I go to has shooting positions down a path and up a hill where my car can't go so I have to hump all my shit up there. I just strap in my rifle and pack ammo, mags, shooting bags, water, etc. in the pouches and wear it like a backpack.
Mine has held up well and I haven't had any issues with it.

I own the Eberlestock and it's a tank as far as bags go. Very well made and extremely durable. I don't know what your exact uses are beyond the range but I carry my 25lb 338LM on my back with it on hunting trips and it does great. No issues at all.

Just as an aside, I've never handled the other bags so they may be great as well but I can say the Eberlestock is awesome.

I've owned both the TacOps and Eberlestock. Both are great choices but I settled on the Eberlestock as it was more flexible for my needs. Lots of Molle and zippered pouches internally and externally.

My last drag bag was the eberlestock. It was well built with very good organization.
To me it didn't balance well when handled carrying from the side. I had to really play with where the gear went so it wasn't nose diving.
The external punches when loaded up also sagged a lot which again played with the balance of it. But as I'm back in the market for another it will probably be eberlestock.

As far as Midway nylon gear. All I can say is they seem to rip off good designs and 1000d is 1000d for the most part. My midway shooting mat is like 7-8!years old and still looks new

Hell yes right here best bang for your buck. I have a tac ops and it is nice as hell but the midway is my go to. Had it for years with no issues.

I've used this mat/bag for five years. Zippers gave out about a year ago. Still use it because buckles hold it all together. Used for monthly training and daily storage of rifle in squad. Other than zippers breaking it has a hole worn on inside and outside of case where corner of Harris bipod rubs. If you plan to actually drag this bag through foilage, it sucks, square ends catch everything.

I like this bag because it is very convenient at the range. Simply place bag where you plan to shoot, open it up, set up rifle and shoot. When finished pack it up! Bag balances well when carried by handle. Backpack straps work but I hardly use them. Plenty of MOLLE on outside if you need to attach pouches. Personally a separate backpack carries all my extras. The rifle case is used for storage and as a shooting mat only.

Note in photos the faded side of case. That is from the sun hitting it in back seat. Also, hole on inside/outside is not worn through.

I thought I would throw an update in the thread. I got the triad tactical percision rifle case. It's a nice case, well made, and seems very durable. I think it will serve the purpose of why I bought it. I'll be honest that I think at its price point, if I had gotten my hands on it before purchase I would have went with a drag bag for the extra $100 or so.

TRIAD TACTICAL was awesome as always. Got everything I ordered quickly.

So I have been using the Triad bag for a few months now. Has taken a bunch of rang trips and its held up well. It's a quality rifle "case" is how I would describe it. For the price I'm a little disappointed. I would have paid the up-charge for a quality drag bag. I got my hands on a Ebrelestock drag bag at the range a few weeks ago and was really impressed. When i saw midway selling them for $224(the price is very close to Triad bag) I had to jump on it.
