Help... New long action build.

Ok first of thanks for checking this out. I have a remington long action that I want to build a 1400 yards plus rifle and I was wanting some suggestions I've been looking at the 280 rem but don't know to much about it maybe 300 wm I just don't know what round will do what and when they go subsonic. I'm trying to stay away from the cost of reloading the 338 Lapua and I would like to have a descent barrel life thanks guys.

What bolt face is your action? If you don't want to modify or replace the bolt, your choice of calibers will be shortened significantly.

I'm wanting to build a 300wm and shoot 210gr bergers. Close enough to 338 performance at still acceptable cost

280AI is mighty intriguing if you have a standard boltface.

You may want to look at the 284 win and a berger 180 vld or 180 hybrid, I am running the 180 vld at 2800 and it works well out to the distance your looking at.

Was looking at the same calibers very recently -- Ended up going for the 300WM in a Stiller Tac 300 -- Very very happy.
