I am sending 2 scopes back to leupold to get one repaired and the reticle changed and the other for the M1 knobs installed and them to spec out and calibrate the knobs for my 308. The can go out to 1k but it will be over a turn ( maybe like a complete turn and a half I THINK! )
scope number one that is getting the custom reticle they offer puts mil type dots where ever needed for you caliber gun (which is a 223 rem for me on this scope) They need a the velocity i will be staying around, bullet weight, BC of bullet, average altitude, Average Temp. My particular 223 likes the 69-75 grain bullets so I ill be telling them probably 69 gr bullet.
MY question is do you think i should give me a max load or stick somewhere in the middle VELOCITY WISE with the 223 and tell them the 69 gr Sierra MK or Hornady 68 gr BTHP match since i use different powders?
Scope #2
VX III also i am gettting Leupold M1 turrets ( elevation and windage) for it put on for my 308 win. I plan on shooting out to 100, 200,300, 500- 800 yards with it what velocity do i need to use to stay out that far i have been using RL_15 42 gr and TAC 44 gr with a 168 gr a-max. But i have heard i will need the 178 to help with the wind at the longer differences which isnt a problem cause i dont have many 168s left???
So I need to know what velocity to tell them 2650, 2700, 2850???? to calibrate it for the long shots and what kind of bullet i should give the BC of???
I know this seems like a lot but basically i just need help on two different calibers velocitys so Leupold can calibrate the M1 turrets for long range accuracy on the 223 ( out to 400 yards ) and 308 ( out to 800 yards ). thanks
