Rifle Scopes HELP!!!!! Scope mounting help!!!!

Hey all!
I'm gonna get a little detailed here in asking for some help on understanding the best way to set up a new scope combination for long distance steel competition.
I've been using the Horus Falcon scope with the H37 reticle and I LOVE it! Really cuts down on time spent during a competition. Problem is, next year ranges go up to 1300 yards and I wanted more power in the scope.
SO....I just purchased the Burris XTR II 8x40x50 scope, with F Class MOA reticle. The scope is going on a custom built AR10 platform chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor.
I talked to a Burris tech who was familiar with the Horus reticles and I told him how I wanted to use the F Class reticle for holdovers etc just like I could do with the Horus. NOW HERE'S WHAT HE TOLD ME TO DO. Let me know if it's right or wrong and if wrong, what I need to do to obtain the desired effect? PLEASE!

I'll using an example of a 34moa holdover: Tech told me to mount the scope using a 1 piece 20moa mount and zero the gun using the TOP set of crosshairs.
He said on a 34moa holdover (according to calculations) removing the 20 moa of the scope mount, I would hold 14moa.

Is this right?

Tahnks in advance for your input

I don't think that is right I'm not even really sure what that dude was trying to explain to you . I'm not familiar with that reticle but I'll look it up. However if you zero the top reticle on any system you would still hold the full 34 moa. Ok I looked up that reticle. That is a nice reticle by the way. Put it on a 20 moa base would be fine or not doesn't matter if it will go low enough to zero the top crosshair at 100 then just hold over whatever your dope is. In the instance of a 34 moa hold over you would just hold on the second to bottom hash which is the 34 moa line
