Help verifying an SOF claim

Re: Help verifying an SOF claim

Once had a guy claimed to be some sorta black ops super soldier SOF guy. We were building our new camp in Baghdad and the 3rd person there participating was an old school SOF guy. He let him go on for a while before busting his balls pretty hard. Guy lasted another week in country and was shipped out. SOC-NET is where your answer will be....

Re: Help verifying an SOF claim

Worked with a guy, the brother of a man I did know pretty well. He talked about Algeria, Iraq (first time),and Afghanistan. Bodyguarding and other stuff. He did have a odd accent for a hillbilly.Found a SOF mag at bookstore with him on the cover. Think he was not fibbing.

Re: Help verifying an SOF claim

What tab is he wearing? SF or Ranger? professionalsoldiers.com has a good record of busting fake SF guys, and armyranger.com is good at what they do.

Re: Help verifying an SOF claim

Normally when someone is doing this it's BS. One give a way or clue is they will state that their record is sealed and that you can't even find out if they attend the Q course, that would be a big sign of BS. Black ops would be sealed, however military schools would not be sealed. Just ask to see his DD214, it will list SFAS and SFQC. Ask him what MOS he was 18(?). What A team his was on, that will help find out.

Re: Help verifying an SOF claim

The POW MIA Network is one of the best sources.

http://www.pownetwork.org/phonies/phonies.htm

They will research and 'out' people who make false claims and have seen some folks through convictions for illicit activities and for claiming everything from Medal of Honor to fake service records. I've known these guys for a long time. Chuck passed on recently (Vietnam Marine) and Mary is continuing the work.

She is a wonderful lady... and this site is worthy of a donation if you feel compelled.

Cheers,

Sirhr

Re: Help verifying an SOF claim

You hear that crap often. I live about 20-30 minutes from Bragg though, so there are a good many real legit guys around here. Of the guys I know none of them feel compelled to tell anybody and posers are not taken lightly. Around here is not a good area to make any unsupported claims because your neighbor can be anything from a sapper to delta but it still doesn't stop hearing that stuff in the right setting....gun shop, public range, etc.
