Help with add-ons for a new long range rig

I have just gotten into the precision shooting thing and have purchased a Remington 700 5R Mil-Spec. I have put a couple hundred rounds down range and have gotten great results with FGMM 168 (at least in my mind anyway). Two things I would like to upgrade are the stock (not fond of the factory HS Precision) and the factory bottom metal. No real practical reason for wanting a detachable mag system but hey, why not. In terms of the stock I am thinking of going with the Manners T4A and bottom metal I'm thinking of going with the Surgeon DBM. From various forums around the net I have been told that this group here is one of, if not the best to ask for guidance. With that said, what say you fine folks? Manners T4A and Surgeon bottom metal sound like a solid direction to go? Are there better or alternative options?

I was in your same exact shoes a year ago with my 5R. I went with the T4A and could not be happier. In regards to the DBM I went the Badger direction and love it as well. I have a 6.5CM currently being finished and will be using a PTG bottom metal and have heard good things about it as well. In what ever direction you go the DBM is a great choice just do yourself a favor and try a few and see which ones you like. But you are headed in the right direction. Good solid choices for sure!

I had the same opinion of the HS stock as you. I went with an AICS 1.5. It can be found for around $700 on here from what I've seen. As soon as I got it, I purchased some viperskins with the extra large grip and love it. With the aics you have versatility.

i would go with a Manners with a mini chassis. by the time you count in bedding and DBM, it evens out pretty nicely.

Manners all the way, T4a with surgeon bottom metal gets my vote.

Then get 30calsniper or short bus to paint it all to match!

I'm with Pepper 2111 on the stock/skins. When you're done with that, or hell, maybe before, ditch the Sierra 168gr. Go with 175gr GM308M2, or better yet handload with 175gr. SMK or Berger LRBT/OTM. See groups get smaller, save money (well maybe not initially anyway), get consistent hits on things far, far away.

If you're looking at a Manners stock, I see no reason to use a separate DBM- get the mini chassis.

Mc Millan A4 is the way to go
