everyone on here was a great help getting my scope set up on my rifle. I made my way out to the range yesterday and have a problem. I am having trouble on my follow through on my shots. I shoot a remington 700 308 20 inch barrel and everytime I fire my gun jumps to the side. I use a bipod and rest the stock on sandbags. how do I control the recoil so that the gun doesn't jump so far off target.

Are you straight behind the rifle? Or cocked with legs more to one side than the other?

Don't muscle the reticle onto the target. Get a good natural point of aim (sometimes abbreviated NPA). By that I mean, get on target, close your eyes and take a couple breaths. Open your eyes. If you've got a good NPA, you should still be on target. If you force the crosshairs on target, after recoil you will be off target.
With good body position and good NPA, you should come back on target after recoil subsides. I know this, but still fall short of the goal sometimes.

Also, get in tight on the rifle to allow your body to absorb some of the recoil and reduce jumping movement

I am shooting from bench so I'm naturally a little off to the side. I do my best to get a natural point of aim and I always hold a gun in tight but the barrel still jumps drastically. I shoot from a bipod that's about 9 inches could that be the problem

The height of your bipods is absolutely a problem. The higher they are, the less mass you have in direct path of the recoil, causing the rifle to move more. We would always say, "If you can get closer, get closer. If you can get lower, get lower."

Yes, get that bipod lower. A Harris 6-9 BRM-S is perfect for the bench. Make sure the rubber boots are clean and learn how to load the bipod. You may get vertical stringing at first, but once you are comfortable with loading, your groups should become more consistent. Also a 1/2 pint rear bag(redtacgear), or a small wedgie goes great with the Harris. You can get all of this stuff from Triad http://www.triadtactical.com/home.php

Yes, it counteracts the tendency of the barrel to rise. You will still get some movement, but not the hop. Other than that you can get a brake, but they are obnoxiously loud.

I have shot many rifles and have never had a problem quite this bad. It is very drastic how much the barrel is jumping around. I hope a shorter bipod and a stock with less flex will help the problem. Its killing my groups

Try a piece of carpet under the bipod legs. The rubber feet on concrete has a tendancy to jump. If you don't have a section of carpet, just fold a towel under it and give that a try
