Anyone have a good place to hunt groundhogs? Trying to see what its like since I have never been, and wanted to see/learn some tips before I head out on my own. Not asking to steal a spot but if you would take me, and maybe a buddy of mine, along for a hunt or so. Keeping it with in a few hours of Pittsburgh would be good. Thanks for the help guys.

Re: Help with PA groundhog hunt

These farms generally have plenty of groundhogs, and the farmers usually don't care if you hunt them.

Re: Help with PA groundhog hunt

I used to live south of the 'burg, Peters Twp. At the time I lived there you could pretty much groundhog hunt anywhere by knocking on a door. Other than that there are tons of state game lands that you could go hog hunting at. Depending on how far you'd want to travel I could give you some directions of a place I used to go and kill a bunch of them in the Finleyville area, damn good turkey hunting too! A guy I was friends with in HS, his dad owns the place and leases the hunting rights out to the state game commission so anyone can hunt there, at least when I was still living there 10 years ago..... I liked hog hunting there because you could see a pretty good ways and cover the whole field since it's shaped like a valley. It's out by "Mingo Junction" if you know where that is. Shoot me a PM if you're interested and I'll try to explain how to get there. I assume it's still open to the public but haven't been there in over 10 years so you may just be going for a nice ride in the country.

Ok thanks for the help guys. I might have to give that Mingo Junction place a try. Bryan I sent you a PM. Sometime within a year or so I'll have to go knock on some doors.
