Gunsmithing help with scope base for mod 70 win...... I believe short action

I have an older Model 70 Winchester in 22-250. It is not a pre-64 model. I purchased a Nightforce base for a short action mod 70, but the bolt holes on the receiver do not match up with the holes in the scope base brownells sent. If you put the mounting screws in front pair of holes, the back holes do not line up with holes in receiver.....and vice versa. I measured the receiver holes and c/c front holes is .852 which is same as the back pair. The distance from front hole (front pair) to front hole (back pair) is 4.660. I'm going to send this base back to brownell. I am not sure what to re order, considering the base I ordered was suppose to fit a mod 70 short action.

From EGW site:

The middle spread is the distance between the two middle holes, center to center, on your receiver. The middle spreads on our Winchester 70 mounts are as follows:

Winchester 70 Short Action: 3.259"
Winchester 70 Long Action: 3.805"
Winchester 70 WSM: 3.514"
Winchester 70 WSSM: 3.225"

First, let me say thank you for responding to my post. It appears that I have a odd version of the mod 70. I picked this rifle up late 70's or 80's and it does not appear to have been altered and looks like a stock win mod 70 receiver. It has a heavy varmint barrel and on the barrel it is stamped "Winchester Model 70 XTR 22-250. With that said, the middle spread per your above information measured 3.892. (c/c distance between the back hole of the front pair and front hole of the back pair) Thought this would be an easy "bolt on a picatinny base" and go.....
