Beginner here, putting together my first rifle. I have a Rem 700 5r 24". I'm looking at mostly shooting at the range, eventually working my way out to 1000 yards, occasionally some hunting, and maybe some competitions someday. I'm looking for a scope that will do it all without having/wanting to upgrade. I don't have the money for a SB. But I have enough for a NF. I'm looking at the ATACR and the 3.5-15 x 50 F1 NXS. I know one is SFP vs FFP. Which one would be more versatile, and easier to learn on.

By all accounts, the ATACR is an amazing scope. But, FFP is likely more useful for the usage you mentioned. The F1 is a legendary scope, but there are some great competitors to them these days to consider as well.
You might look into Premier LT 3-15x50 and Leupold Mk 6 3-18x44; both highly rated options and much lighter in weight, if that is a factor.

SFP is, in a way, is good to learn on because it isn't as easy to use as FFP and helps get you very familiar with the math, IMO. In the end, you'd be happy with the ATACR or the F1, I think and the SFP/FFP will come down to a training issue.
