New to the form maybe some one can tell me why the 300 rum is not used in the 1000 yd competition.and you dont here about it to much shooting a 1000 yds and beyond.but then again i here how its a good long distant gun it is. And i am having 300 rum built it kinda makes me to have second thoughts about it.

For F-Class, shooting either 50 or 60 shots in the match without a muzzle break, will beat you to death unless you are really huge. Some huge magnums are used in Bench Rest but their weight is considerable heavier.

For competition is's not just how much it affects/kicks you but how if affects your rest and bags. It's all about consistancy and a big kicking gun will require more adjustment to get back on target. Trend in benchrest is more towards 6mm that affects the bags very little, just slide the gun back forward and it's usually on target with no or very little change.
