High magnification SFP scope set at 10x

Why would one make their reticle for 10x magnification in a high power SFP scope such as a 8-32? I would think you'd like to be able to use your reticle at a higher power rather than dialing it down. I understand you can just calculate the holdovers for different magnifications, but I could do that even if the reticle was made for a higher power.

That makes since instead of making another reticle for higher magnification scopes just use an existing one.

10x is pretty usable out to 1000m or more and your not looking through a tunnel on a cheaper SFP high magnification scope.
