hello i am new at reloading i recently bought a rem vtr chamberd in 308win i started shooting 1000 yards the best load i came up with before i started getting scared was wlr primers rem brass 48gr reloader 15 155grsmk the 308vtr has a 1-12twist 22in barrel does this sound like to hot a load for the gun? i have shot the load and have seen no obvious sighs of high pressure but i would still love some comfirmation.

Re: high pressure???

Yea it its a close to hot, but If you dont get any excessive expansion at the head of the case you should be fine. Always work up to those hotter loads but if you have no signs of over pressure you are fine. Rifles can vary like this sometimes, alot of factors to consider.

Re: high pressure???

I just ran your load/gun through Quickload and see you're right below SAAMI max pressure guidelines (60191psi) With your load I'm showing 59776psi running at 2862fps. Each gun is of course different and perhaps you were running with thick brass, hot temps, or a tightly chambered VTR if you were seeing pressure signs with that load in that gun.

Personally I run a 308 Win with 155 Scenars at just shy of 3000fps with Varget powder with just a hint of overpressure. YMMV.
