I would like to announce a new shooting series coming to the Deplorable Rifleman’s Club range in southeastern KY for 2022….The Hillbilly Hustle sponsored by Nomad Precision. This will not be sanctioned or count for points for the Precision Rifle Series. It will be a 4 match series spread throughout the year. This will include 3 qualifying matches, followed by a finale match in the fall. The principle behind this match is that we are not hindered by the restrictions put on PRS matches and this will be a pay-out match series. All registered shooters will receive a series T shirt and food will be provided at each match.
Registration is open now and will only be available until February 15 for shooters to pay a $250 registration fee and once we reach 50 shooters, registration will be closed and no one else will be able to join. Shooters will be required to shoot at least 2 of the 3 qualifier matches to be qualified to shoot the finale. There will be a small fee to shoot each qualifier match, but the top 3 finishers will receive a pay out after that match ($500 for first place, $250 for second and $100 for third). The finale will be worth 200 points and will be added to the top two qualifier matches to determine the overall yearly winner. This will weigh the finale in order to allow shooters to make up for any lower scores throughout the year and make it extremely important for everyone to do well at the finale. The top 5 shooters after the finale will be splitting the overall pot for the year which we expect to be near $7000 or more.
RO’s will not be allowed to shoot the match. This will allow shooters to concentrate on the match and not worry about keeping score. Shooters will have limited time on glass, and there will no wind/correction calls allowed. If you have experience and are interested in being an RO, let us know. As an incentive, we plan to pay RO’s for their time if they choose to help out.
Because this is not a sanctioned PRS match series, it opens the door to many more options for targets and courses of fire. This will include true Know Your Limits (KYL) stages where missing can make you lose points, unknown distance targets where you will have to range and shoot on the clock, unknown distance targets where you will have to use old school methods of determining range without a range finder, bonus targets, bonus points, random draw at stages to determine what targets, what range and/or what position you will be shooting from, and the ability for a shooter to buy ONE Mulligan to reshoot ONE stage at each qualifier match are some examples of what we are working on.
We want to make this a fun match series with a serious payout at the end. A majority of the registration fees will be used as the final payout to shooters at the finale. The exact payout at the end of the year will be determined by how many shooters register and how many shoot each qualifier, but we are expecting the top 5 shooters at the end of the year to be splitting up at least $7000. We are not doing this kind of match to make money. We want to provide a match style where shooters can actually win back some of their investment and have a fun time doing it. Any profit from the series is going to pay for shirts, food, targets, and range improvements.
