Sidearms & Scatterguns HK45C Thoughts?

I've had both the HK45 and the 45 C. I still have the HK45, ditched the C. The C, to me, tries to reinvent the 1911 niche in a package that doesn't conceal or manage recoil as well, with magazines that cost (in normal times) a time and a half as much.

I love my HK45CT. It does feel somewhat front end heavy with the Osprey with my small trollish hands. I replaced the stock TruDots with some taller Heine sights. The pistol is very accurate. The match trigger on the USP Tactical is better IMHO.

I have a hk45c and a usp45 ct, love them both. Smooth trigger reliable and very accurate. I have been carrying one or the other for the best part of the last 4 years. It feels great in my hands and I will most likely never be without an HK if I have a choice in the matter.

I think Handguns are all personal preferences. My 45c is my carry weapon of choice. It just feels good in my hands, and I like the trigger and sites.

I had a 45 c with threaded barrel. I didn't like it because I found the mag release too slow and difficult to manipulate. I found myself using both hands to release the mag. Compared to the 1911 - well it just doesn't. For me the 1911 operates with one hand. Even on the old worn out issues left over from the big war (WWII) we had many moons ago in a far away land. I bought my HK45 C when they just came out, the serial number was in the 400 range and luckly didn't loose any money on it when I sold it.

My shooting bud has a new 45C. Damn nice looking gun. I am looking forward to running it side by side with my USP compact. The HK 45 feels thinner to me and I like the feel of my USP compact better. I have big hands.

HK Makes the finest weapon systems in the world. I posted a thread recently asking if the new HK45c was GTG ..and HK45 USP COMPACT. Most Everyone that had either gun was impressed. There is always some guys that say, " buy a glock". Nobody needs to buy a Glock, they already have 2 or 3 in the safe :) They good too.

HKs are beautiful machines. I have had many...having been previously spoiled by Glock's low bore axis and fast return to battery, the top heavy and slow feel of the HKs kept them from becoming a permanent fixture. They are very nice machines, though. I loved the appearance, feel and manipulation, even the trigger-finger actuated mag release...I just didn't like shooting them.
I tried Hk45 (twice) along with multiple USP45Tacticals, Compact Tacticals, etc. The CT is easily my favorite. Don't own any of them anymore, but I still like them.

I love my HK45C. Got it setup with a the threaded barrel and light LEM trigger. Need to get the Heinie suppressor sights. I use it 99% of the time as a suppressor host as I have plenty of other pistols to run unsuppressed. Gun runs GREAT, no hickups with the can on it.

My thoughts with guns these day(damn near all of them) is if you cant find one to shoot a bit to get a feel and you buy one, chances are you can turn it for at least what you have into it, maybe you lose $50 or something as a "use fee". That was my issue with the HK45c. I bought it without ever having shot one(nobody had any to shoot and I didnt know anybody that had one either). I personally love it, but if I didnt I know I could sell it and get what I paid for it if not quite a bit more.

I'll just leave the here:

Probably one of the most thorough and impressive reviews of any pistol. The hk45 is an impressive pistol, and an amazing example of engineering. I like mine however I can't bring myself to love it. I shoot my other pistols better.

The op wanted pros and cons so I will follow that format from my experience.
Pros:
durability and reliability are without equal.
Very accurate pistol if you do your part.
Comfortable
Reconfigurable trigger(I currently have the lem trigger but you can change it as needed/wanted)

Cons:
Harder to shoot accurately for me.
Expensive mags.
Lots of cursing involved when changing tigger parts
Compatibility issues with sure fire lights(rail on the c variant is too short)
Magazine release
High bore axis

Notice that all the really important things are inn the pros column while the cons happen to be more personal gripes with the system. Try to shoot one, if you like it and shoot it well, go for it, you have nothing to fear other than the price of the mags.
