DNC is going to be a doozy as all of the jihadism supporters in CONUS are looking to absolutely disrupt it. Yesterday's chaos following the Israeli PM's visit was just a sampler of things...
Approximately 4,000 deputy U.S. Marshals and criminal investigators form the backbone of the agency. And you don't get "called back".
Are there even 6,000 deputy U.S. Marshals in existence?
I wondered that my self but that only 120 per state not including territories so maybe?
I'm not thinking so.
Even if it were close, pulling that many would leave every Fed courthouse in the country w/o a Marshal. Pretty sure they wouldn't do that.
As someone said, there's ~4000 marshals and deputy marshals. You can get that info straight off their website.

No there is not. As an agency they hover around 3200-3500 Deputies at any given time. That 4000 number from their website is authorized strength. They’ve not been fully staffed for years.

If they are going by the number of people that show up for a Biden rally , 20 -30 Marshall's should be enough. With a few left over.
There are full time US Marshalls and there are US Marshalls that are deputized that work for other agencies. They do this for special projects and national disasters etc. Only the US Marshalls Service and the FBI have complete jurisdiction everywhere in the US and territories. When they had the big hurricane in Puerto Rico cops from dozens of federal agencies responded and were given USMS Deputy cards (no badge) and were US Marshalls for the duration of their detail. It ensured they had jurisdiction and authority to enforce all 18 USC.
As long as they catch that Harrison Ford criminal I'm good. Or that vampire. Or do something. If they caught a crosswalking mom with a stroller that would be impressive. What exactly do they do? Or more specifically, what have they ever done?

You watched too many episodes of Texas Predator Hunting podcast. For a moment, you sounded like Wade.
So just so we all understand. There are roughly 3200 US marshals in all of the us. But when agencies send support (NYPD, LAPD etc etc.) they are deputized as marshal’s temporarily. That’s where the 6000 comes from.
Local LE that are sworn in as part of a task force do not deploy to out of area operations.
USMS absolutely wouldn't have sent even half of their deputies so that means they would have had to deputize over 4,000 local LE. They didn't do that.
Well as luck would have it I’m sitting here with a US Marshall on my flight to DC. He’s the one that explained it to me. It’s not that they deployed. It’s not uncommon for agencies to send support to Washington DC and when they do in order for them to have jurisdiction he explained the temporarily deputize them. 6000 2000 whatever the number is the confusion is just the media not reporting it in a 100% factual and concise manner.
