Re: Hogs are tearing up my place!

I would be very happy to help you out and it would be for a Very good cause.

I'm the State Director of Texas Students for Concealed Carry on Campus and we are Seriously in need of funding. We would like to have a wild hog BBQ fundraiser, but have nowhere to get the meat.

If anyone would allow us to hunt just hogs on their property for this fundraiser, then it would be Greatly appreciated. No more than 3 specified people (myself and two others)--waivers signed to release all liability. Experienced hunters and semi auto and bolt action only--every shot will go into a hog. Would use .308, 12 gauge, 3006, and 5.7x28.

We'd just be taking the smaller ones back with us, but can eradicate and dispose of the larger ones as well. Please PM me if anyone is interested in helping us out.

Re: Hogs are tearing up my place!

Was watching monster quest about these beasts - they predicted this population explosion of them and showed where they would hunt/trap them (repeat business)...

We had this problem out by the coast - took a drive out there and saw one at a creek drinking (?) - 300 or 400 yards but by the time I got my rifle out and set up (30 seconds) - it was long gone.

I'm suprised more people aren't "Making bacon"...

Re: Hogs are tearing up my place!

Make a cage to trap the hogs. Once caught kill all in the trap but one female. Put a radio tracking collar (the kind used for keeping up with tracking dogs) on her and release her, she will find her way back to a group. Surround the area and light it up.

While buckshot works in some circumstances, it's very expensive and the recoil is a bit much when compared to the .223

It's a job/business and one that is dangerous, the fun quickly wears off just like any other job. A pilot and shooter were killed in Dilley about 3 weeks ago when the chopper crashed while shooting hogs.

Re: Hogs are tearing up my place!

The buckshot works better in dense cover than the 223. In an open area the the 223 is the ticket.
Heard about the Houston guy going down. It's was the same day I flew last. Did you ever hear the details on that?

...and that is why, in large part (among other reasons) the hog problem is so prolific in Texas.
