This is a dead center rib bone strike on the entrance side via 6creed pushing 3130. Impact was 247 from the muzzle. After the shot the deer took another bite of clover before doing the death dance. The baby's older sister made a "I got nothing" call and when I made a check on the turret setting she said " it's flopping". Although the far exit left a quarter size hole, I don't recommend this load for deer.

Not that I think this one case is acceptable performance, but appears to be the exception, not the rule. Many have shot these same bullets with devastating performance. I dont mean to poo poo on the message Jon is sending here, as information is good to have one way or another.

I have to agree with the previous statement, it looks like you burned through the bone!

Very interesting. I killed a few coyotes with my 6 Creedmoor. The load was sporting the Berger 105 Hybrid bullet. All of the shots were under 250 yards, and the bullets, which still dropped the coyotes in their tracks, were whizzing on through.

Obvious Lesson: Match bullets aren't ideal for hunting game?

Thanks for the post.

My fault guys... I was looking more at the pictures than the title of the post. Heh.... and that tells you everything you need to know about me.

Jon,

Lauren shot her doe at 215 on Saturday with a neck shot that exited and reentered mid length and pass through the right ham. I don't have photos but I have video parts. That SST is brutal; however, it just doesn't have the super-great ballistics of a match. I will post her kill in Hunting later on this week once I edit all the video.

Wow... that Match didn't even waver or wobble after hitting the bone.. that is amazing.

With the Speed, I certainly expected much more violence. I have caused more damage to a heart with a Bow than this did. I didn't get Pic but the heart had a hole just like the rib; Pencil size. But this is a data set of 1, not much of an experiment but i wont be gunning deer with My creed anymore, I have other stuff I know works.

Shot a WT deer at 400 yds w/6BR, 2850 mv, double lunged, impact showed hard hit, golf ball exit, deer struggled very slowly and went about 25 yds....
Moments before spine shot one facing away, that deer was at half the distance, hence my shot placement, bullet completely blew up on impact, no more than 2-3" max of penetration, all fragments around spine/bone.
