I was just looking at midwayusa at the .338 250 grain bullets. I had to wonder why I'm not seeing any talk about the hornady's bthp match. They have the same b.c. , same sectional density and cost a hell of alot less than the scenars. Are the metplates not as well formed, or is it bc of the Sierra's?...... I shoot the amaxs out of my .30 cals and they rock. Just curious......

Because you're not cool unless you shoot Lapua!

Seriously the Lapua are usually 100 per box and the Hornady are 50 per box but they will still be less per 100.

Try a box of the Hornady. I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed and I know your wallet won't

The new AMP jacketing process is producing very good bullets.

Re: Hornady .338 250's vs. Scenar 250's

the Scenars were cheaper at powder valley last week, and my Savage seems to like the 339 bullet better than the .338 Hornady,,

I have shot thousands on thousands of the Hornady BTHP bullets and they are good,,but the 338 seems more consistant with lapua bullets,

Re: Hornady .338 250's vs. Scenar 250's

IMHO the 250 Scenar is one of the more consistently accurate bullets ever made for a 338.

Not saying the Hornady's wont shoot, but the Scenar is a bad ass bullet that has proved ridiculously easy to attain bug hole accuracy potential in every last rifle I have tried it in.
They are more expensive, but they are certainly worth a look.

Maybe the new Hornday's will be as good....Hard to say.
The 250 Scenar is so good that I have my doubts.

Re: Hornady .338 250's vs. Scenar 250's

How does 250gr SMK perform against the above?

And slightly off-topic - how do 300gr Sierra and Berger bullets stack up against these brands (Hornady & Scenar)? Particularly 300gr SMK and 300gr Berger Hybrid? Both are cheaper than either Hornady or Scenar.

Re: Hornady .338 250's vs. Scenar 250's

I shoot the 250gr Hornadys and they shoot very well. I don't know if this was just luck or what, but I had myself and four other guys shoot my rifle at 200 yards and 4 were touching and one was about 1/4" out from the others.
