Hornady129 gr SST's vs the Hornady Match 140 AMAX in 6.5CM

I am getting into shooting matches and have ran into the ammo crunch much like everyone else and it is time to replenish ammo. I have been using copper creek cartridge company as Josh is great to deal with and I am toying with moving up to the VLD's but I found the 129 SST's fairly cheap at a local gun store. Reading Hornday's website and what I can about these rounds and what people say is that they shoot great but this is more off of hunting websites and I tend to trust them less than the hide. I am using a 8.5 twist bartlien barrel and would appreciate any input ya'all have. 140 Amax match seems non existent right now and my go to store in Columbia SC should have them in soon but I don't want to miss out on ammo at a good price if it will shoot comparable to the 140 amax match hornady factory ammo. Also, the website states that proprietary powder ups the velocity up to 200 FPS over stock ammo, wouldn't this help?

Just get them, you can't have enough Bullets. I shoot the 180 SST and am very happy with them. Not one holers but they go down range ok

I hear that but in the same breath I don't want something that goes bang. I have the income to be choosey (in some ways, no point in spending 200 in rounds that I can't use in a match) in regards to getting what is right for shooting out to maximum range of matches. There is no point in having rounds that won't fly right at 1000 and the competition is averaging ranges of 700-1000.

The SST's are not going to perform as well for your application. The G1 BC for the 129 SST is .483 compared to the 140 AMAX G1 BC of .584. What ballistic app are you running? Plug in the data for each bullet on your ball app and see for yourself how the dramatically lower BC of the SST may present problems at distance. Also, since you have the income to be choosey, direct some of that income into purchasing reloading equipment and components and learn to reload. Becoming proficient at reloading would allow the use of 140 Hybrids and VLD's which you may find to be very slippery in the wind with good accuracy at distance.

Thanks for the advice, I am still getting used to using the ballistic app and didn't think about using it that way. Very good point though, I have shooter on my phone for android and I just picked up Ballistic AE for the wifes Ipad. I have to mess with some numbers I got my rounds chronographed today while I was at the range and the rounds are about 140 fps faster than what the box said so hopefully that data will help with my apps.
