New here, and new to optics. For a .556 heavy barrel rifle I acquired a new old stock Horus Blackbird II optic. The price was right, and I think it fits the rifle well. This model isn’t made anymore, and Horus today will not help.

Can an optic like this be serviced? I ask because the center dot, which illuminated, is located a couple mils above, and a couple to the right, of being centered. This would explain the price and NOS condition. It’s not a big deal, but I would prefer it centered.

I am enjoying learning about the reticle either way. Thank you.

It has been a long time so I may be forgetting something, but I believe these were outsourced to Hakko who also has reorganized into JOL (an OEM optics company in Japan). So, the manufacturer and Horus have both changed hands since your scope was made.

I highly doubt anyone could do anything about the issue, these things were not really made to be serviced. The OEM won't talk to you, they'll just refer you to Horus if they answer you at all. I have a couple I was given back when they were in production, and they're a good way to try the reticle without spending $2500. Not a super high quality optic and they're almost certainly not going to track or click true, but if you can zero them and work exclusively in the reticle you can get something done with it.
