How does the Horus 1x4 compare to the NF 1x4? Are thesescopes in the same class? I am considering either one for heavy recoiling 460 Weatherby mag Dangerous Game. Any input would be great help. Thanks, Bob
The Horus 1x4 is a great scope with 12 mils of holdover. This is the scope that I shoot on my 3 gun AR15 and it works great. I have this scope several years and put thousands of rds through the rifle, I like it alot.
Horus changed there warranty because of people running over there Horus Vision scopes with a pickup or dropping there rifle on the scope then wanting it replaced for a new scope. All it takes is getting a few of these people that abuse things to change it for everyone.
I'd go with the Nightforce too. It's made for dangerous game cartridges and will handle the recoil. With it's lifetime warrenty if there are problems they will be taken care of.
Also with the FC2 reticle you can easily hit anything you would hunt with that rifle either dialing or using the reticle for holds. I have one on my AR and can hit 12x12 steel very easily to 400 yards by just usinghold overs with the FC2.
Take a long hard look at the NF 1-4 and I am sure it will be your choice.
I think Horus scopes are Ok and I have 3 that I use allot but for hunting dangerous game I would definitely pick the Nightforce. It's just a tougher scope with a better rep.
I have 2 NF and love them, NF is my personal choice. I have not heard alot about Horus. I wanted to know opinions of shooters/hunters with experience with both. I will stick with NF it appears. I may opt for the 2.5x10. You guys are great, Thanks, Bob
The Horus is an FFP scope, the NF is not. I think an SFP ranging reticle on a variable power scope is like tits on a boar..... useless. I've had my Horus for several years now and it is holding up just fine and I love the reticle design.
