How far can a 5.56/223 w/ an 18" barrel be used as a trainer? Reason I ask is because I just got a Seekins HIT PRO w/ a 18" 223 barrel. I'm guessing that the I'll be launching 75 grain ELD-M bullets at no more than 2750 FPS. Basing this on getting 2850 out of a 22" barrel. My load for that is 24.0 gr. of Varget. Although I am still supersonic at 1000 yards, I am not making good hits. Making reliable hits out to 800 or so.

8.3 MILS up is my dope for 77 SMK 18” Seekins AR Proof 1:8
Perfectly reasonable for 1000 trainer.
And yes, answered your own question basically

I had a 16” and 23.3 8208xbr in lapua brass for me 2800 with a 75 eld. I took it to 1k but like you said, 800 was max reliable.
