Reloading some .308 brass checking length, specs call for 2.015, have some that are long as 2.02. I know every chamber is different was wondering just how long you guys let your brass get before trimming, and at what point lenght could become a saftey issue.

You might get away with .005" extra in a factory chamber. But, I would trim them back before loading these. Typically, you can fire them 2-3 times before trimming, but it depends on what brand of brass it is. Some will require trimming after the first sizing. Trim to 2.005" and you'll be good for a few more firings.

I've taken to trimming after every firing. That way they are always the same. Yes, more work, but just one more step to try to make more accurate ammo. In a non-factory chamber, the extra length could cause unsafe rise in pressure by artificially crimping the bullet when chambered. Be careful.

Ditto, they will let you know how long you can let it grow, but any time I find 1 piece that it over recommended max I will trim it all. I keep all brass weight sorted and in their on lots. I never mix my brass and keep them in lots of 50 or 100.

Ditto! I have the Sinclair's and also the Franford Arsenals. Both get the job done. You would be suprised how much room some rifles have on the front end!

Find out your throat length in your rifle and that will tell you exactly when you should or shouldnt trim. Having shortened case necks can cause your throat to detorate faster than if you were just to use SAAMI max of 2.015 or for some longer than that especially in long throated actions of some Remington models.
