I'm updating the Windows Phone app Ballistica to support subtensions in MOA for a quick picker control. Previously, it has supported entering up to 20 mils, which was kind of silly anyway since most reticles only show 10 mils. (Even a massive 12-foot target at 20 mils would only be 167 yards away! You might not need a scope to hit that). Not having ever used a scope with subtensions in MOA, I can only go by what I see on pages like Reticles | Nightforce Optics, Inc.. It looks like 40 MOA would be the max in a reticle...kinda makes sense given the number of MOA subtensions per mil subtension.
I'm thinking I'll actually limit the mil version to 10 and the MOA version to 40. The user can always manually enter a larger value in a text field. A major reason for limiting this is to make the buttons larger. The larger the better, especially when using gloves (which is a great feature of the Nokia phones I use).
