Rifle Scopes How much distance is too much to bed scope base?

Scope base bedding, again:
Still trying to get this Savage scoped.
With the front screwed down, the new base is sitting .009 (by feeler gauge) above the top of the receiver at the rear.

Is this still an acceptable distance to bed to level it out?

9 thou? Just do it and be done. Consider it a poor man's version of a canted base.

I've bedded .022 in my base to get 20 MOA cant. Worked great and allowed me to get the travel I needed from my optic. .009" is fine to bed. Heck, with a good epoxy like Devcon, I'm not sure how big of a gap I would think is too much. As high as I can pile and form it up I would go.

Bed on with no worries my friend....
