Complacency kills, just saying.

It has been 13 (ish) hours since a terrorist attack in Spain and not one post here about it. I guess we are all tired of beating a dead horse.

I considered a post on that but as R suggested, Im just burnt out on this for a bit.

I agree. When i first saw it i came here. Saw nothing and even the potential to have "first post" did not entice me to start a thread. I am as numb as everyone else. I started this thread to see if i was the only one.

Guys, I'm just burned out. I really wish there was a place where we could all go (including the kids that are always fighting) and just hang out where none of the idiots could get to. Tonight on 'The Five' (on FOX) I heard one of the usefuls stating we couldn't have freedom without security based on what happened in Spain. They even went on to discuss how if we got the CIA involved .... we could all be safer. I'm just tired, damn tired. Statistically, I don't have many years left and I'd rather the media, government, and fucktards would just leave me alone. Normally I come here just to end a messed up day and hang out with brothers and sisters who do nothing else than understand. Gee wiz golly, I'm just tired. All said, tomorrow I plan to get up and do it again, I don't really have any other choice.

This attack is a lot more organized than the previous ones, it seems there were at least 3 different groups active at the same time plus a few other helpers.
A lot of people killed and wounded, way more than would be expected.
This could be a bit of a worrying new trend.
But of course, the Europeans worship "multiculturalism so devotedly they will just put the blinders on as before and pretend it didn't happen".

what the fuck do they expect?.....they imported Muslim "refuges" by the millions....and we are supposed to be shocked when terrorists strike?.......they are getting exactly what they asked for.

not our fault their delusions of "tolerance" didnt keep them safe.

......and whats worse......we still have people here claiming we need to let more of them in.......like seriously?......if you look at europe and say "mmmm yes, we need more of that here".....you are a fucking idiot and need to be shot.

i am sorry for the people involved in the massacre in spain

some of you guys are some disapointing pussys
im tired of this, im burnt out, fuck you pussys, people were murdered today

I understand. Like you, statistically I dont have a lot of time left on this rock. Im tired to, and like you, will get up tomorrow and do it again because....whats the alt..(pun intended).

There aint no place to go. i was thinking about that today. This is it, stand and win, or die.

The youngster will understand someday.

So oneshot, is 86 the year of your birth? Mine was '49'.

If so, the best I can say is someday you'll understand. The years take their toll, jackson.

None of said we were to burnt to help the innocent, so can that shit.

We're old and burnt about things you have never seen or known. Too many years of them.

I was looking foreward to at least a modicum of quiet retirement. Look at this shit. In 95 my town was voted "Nicest small town in America." Look at what the fucking morons did here Saturday.

Yeah Im tired. I never said I quit.

There's only so much to be said about incidents such as Spain that seem to happen on almost a daily basis. All our words do is fall onto deaf ears and serve no purpose other than waste our time and raise our blood pressure.

Who woulda thunk it?

Words of wisdom from the Binky Boy...

Don't mistake frustration for a lack of will.
Last time I checked we are fighting our own version of an ideology war.

I feel bad for those involved in Spain. I have been to Barcelona 6 or 7 times as the biggest trade event in my field was held there every year for a while. Been down Ramblas many times and always enjoyed the street performers....

To paraphrase what mcameron said...If you allow a copperhead to live in your house and get bit by a snake when you reach in the cabinet, no one's going to blame you if you assume it was the Copperhead...

Europeans don't seem to get it and my parents were born in Europe and came here in 58. They came to get away from the communists and socialists. Thy became citizens and learned the language. They still lived and socialized with other Greeks but never forgot why they came here and they considered themselves Americans. They built a great life for themselves here. I was born here and my father spent a great deal of time ensuring that I understood my heritage. He brought me up knowing the greatness of both Greece and the USA. He also told me that things have a habit of changing and don't forget that it can happen here as well. I argue with my cousins who still live in Greece about it to the point where I just avoid talking to them anymore.

I worry much more about what is going on here to get worked up with what is going on over in Europe. We are truly in a crisis situation here for very different reasons. My Dad was not educated but he knew which end was up.

I was fortunate to visit Greece as a kid. Climbed the Acropolis and saw the Parthenon. We owe them a lot for being the first democracy and having the first real philosophical (and scientific) examinations of their surroundings.. Id love to return but this time Id visit Sparta, Delphi, Thermopolye, and Eleusis.

NOt to change the subject but I hear Barcelona is a beautiful city. Speak about it a bit...or shoot me a pm if you dont want to do it here. Id love to visit there.

It really is an amazing place for several reasons depending on what you enjoy...

1. The food is truly amazing but if you have never visited Spain; the customs require some readjustment. They eat a reasonably sized breakfast but not a ton. Lunch is the central meal of the day. When I first started visiting there; I didn't catch on so I would eat a moderate lunch. I would then go out and TRY to eat dinner at 6:30 or 7 PM....no luck. Restaurants don't open until 9 PM. Reason is that the evenings are time to enjoy friends. They eat very light in the evening, hence the tapas bars. People crowd the places; eat lightly and spend time socializing. If you enjoy seafood, you go to the waterfront and prepare to be amazed. I live in New England and we pride ourselves on our seafood but we have nothing on Barcelona. If you like your fish filleted, prepare to be disappointed. Sauces are wonderful and really reflect the culture.

2. The architecture is amazing. They are totally influenced by Gaudi. Lots of Gothic buildings and incredibly graceful and ornate churches. You can spend days going around the city and taking pictures of some fabulous architecture.

3. Nightlife - Dancing, dancing and more dancing. Lots of clubs. There aren't a lot of bars that I found. Most standalone drinking places with no entertainment are high end cocktail bars. The Dry Martini was my favorite place. Spent a lot of time in there drinking and socializing. I'm not much of a dancer so I spent most of my time in a cocktail bar or tapas lounge. I did get talked into going to a couple of dance clubs by some lovely ladies I met. They are night owls so prepare for that.

4. People are very friendly provided that you respect their culture. Not much different than anywhere else. If you are friendly and respectful, you will meet lots of people and make a couple of friends. They are very inquisitive about the US. I haven't been there in since 2010 but I can't believe that would have changed.

5. Prices are very reasonable unless you go during the times when there is a large event like a trade show. At that time, prices of hotels double or triple as that is the time they can make some money.

6. I would go to Las Ramblas every time I was there because of the street performers. They have pedestals along the street and these people dress in some outrageous costumes. They look like statues and can stand motionless for a while. It is very freaky the first time you see it. Other than that, I had no use for the street as it is full of tourist places where you can buy every form of knick knack you can imagine. It was at that time also a place you go to to pick up a working girl if you were of a mind for that.

Those are the highlights...When I went I also tried to spend a weekend outside of the city. There are some amazing towns on the beach. Let me just say this....go to the beach...parties are everywhere and they are easy to get invited to. Or you can just people watch the sights...

Thanks, Nik, sounds nice. Ive spent most of my Spanish speaking time in Latin America, where there is so much (native) Indian and slang mixed in its tough to understand...for me. The few folks from Barcelona Ive met I could understand easily..Castille, I believe.

Heroes of the day are a cop who shot and killed 4 of the terrorists and his partner who killed the fifth as the terrs came out of a car armed with knifes and machetes on their way to attack innocent people. Good job!!

Funny, I just read the article and was thinking exactly the same thing. I almost ran a poll:

Pick your favorite:

-4 Terrorists captured

-5 Terrorists dead
