how strong are QD sling swivels?

Just wondering if anybody would run a single point sling with a qd swivel on the side of the guns rail? Like on a SPR type rifle that weighs a little more than normal.

With the high quality heavy duty qd swivels, the grey parkerized ones, it has been my experience that the weak link is not the swivel nor the sling but rather the fit between the swivel and the socket. Poorly cut grooves, too shallow hole, weak ball on the swivel. Buy good swivels and yank the shit out of it before using in the field.

I've had varying quality of both male and female parts. You have to test and verify. Here's a case where brand name stuff is better but you still need to test.

Gotta figure a single point is twice as stressful.

One of my shooting friends has a nicely "operator " scarred NF scope and Larue OBR due to a bad QD swivel of supposed great quality. Don't know if I can ever fully trust one after watching that... And, he did the yank test on it every time he re installed.

I've had one seize up and one break loose. FWIW, never had one of those Uncle Mike's do that! All are quality, all are on contract at least, most are KAC.

The one that seized up had to be removed with a punch. Now it's locked in the closed position. Permanently. The one that broke loose I just threw away. That one was on a 1907 sling and I put quite a bit of stress on shooting slings, enough to hurt and flex cheaper tubes.

IME, it's best to keep the same brand socket and swivel --because even if they're off a bit from mfg. to mfg., they should be spot on if both come from a reputable company. KAC hasn't let me down in twenty years so I stick with them when I can.
