I am east of Atlanta and and am trying to find a range that is longer than a 100yds. What are the things you wished you had thought of before you paid to join your range???? Shooting distance is the most important thing for me at this point
River Bend Gun Club has a 600 yard range with NRA f class matches every month, you can checkout their website for a calander. Talladega CMP also has a 600 yard range with electronic targets. Talladega doesn't require a membership. Any other place that has membership usually opens up to the public for competitions so just go attend a competition and see if you like the facility.
I'd like to be a range member at one of the local long distance ranges, but it's just too much. I currently pay 55 a year. I can work up loads out to 200 yards, practice with my AR at any distance to 200 and have a pistol range to work on form as well. The long range one (1400 yards) is like 500 a year or 30 a day. I'll pay 30 to work out dope at range, but not 500 and use it a few times a year. I just don't shoot that far that often.
Elbert County Gun Club in Elberton GA is $120/year w/ no initiation fee. Awesome setup if you shoot clay pigeons but I joined for the 400 yard rifle range.
They also hold monthly members-only 600 & 1,000 matches off site nearby at Gun Site Hills which doesn't have memberships but the daily range fee is a whopping $25 and they also offer classes.
