Hey guys!
I'm waiting for the license to be approved on a howa.its a .243 with a syntethic stock and heavy barrel.does anybody on this forum have this rifle and what's the accuracy like at say 300-350 meters?I wanna use it to shoot springbuck and that requires shooting long distance.any help would be appreciated.

Euro guys gota go threw a lot to just get a hunt gun! My good friend has one that we worked a load up for in .243 and it shoots ragged holes at 100yards... and hits our 10''x13'' steel gong at 600yards if he dose his part.... I remember the trigger was pretty heave we did as much as we could to get the weight down on it!

Assuming license to own during purchase. None the less, EVERY 243 I have ever owned shot under 1" at 100 yds. Your rifle with a heavy barrel should be shooting groups of 3-5" depending on 3shot or 5 shot groups, wind, loads, and the shooter. It is very capable. I would start if possible with a 95 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip, H4350, IMR4350 are great choices also. I would suggest Winchester, Federal, Lapua, or Nosler brass. You should have a great shooter, good hunting.

Guys I'm from south africa and whenever we want to get a gun we pay a deposit on it,apply for a license to posess it,if license is approved then only the firearm dealer releases the weapon to you.things are shitty this part of the world

I am thinking of using the 85gn Barnes TSX because of hunting purposes.I'm not sure if barnes makes anything heavier than 85gn or if its wise to go over 85gn bullets.we use 'somchem' powder in south africa so I'll have to chech your 'IMR' powder with our equivalent.

I have had excellent accuracy with the 100 grain Nosler Partition.
Hits hard, retains weight and drives deep, the accubond should be another excellent choice, I believe it is 90 grains.
They may be a bit easier to come by then the Barnes, and significantly cheaper also.

You may want to consider a B&C medalist/tactical or boyds laminated stock (bedded) for your rifle.
The hogue stock is very comfortable and will serve pretty well, but will put pressure on the barrel and MIGHT affect accuracy (shoot it for a while before you decide).
My son has a heavy barrel howa, it is a really dandy rifle, very well made, accurate and reliable.

Not sure if a 105 VLD would stabilize or not, believe twist is 10" - that said, on the 85 Barnes, it's a great choice, I'd check expansion in test for longer shots at reduced speeds, they will not open as much downrange and Springbuck does not need a mono for killing. That 95 Nosler will expand better at long shots, if you need to take one.

Thanks a lot for the advise.I know monolithics are a bit overkill for springbok.the only reason I wanna use something really strong is if I encounter bushpig I must be able to take them out also, don't wanna zero scope everytime I switch loads like my 30-06.

You're not alone, we have the same shitty system in Australia more or less.
