Hey guys I am getting into the researching process of doing a cheap .308 build. I have narrowed my search down to two possibilities.

Howa Action With 24'' Heavy Barrel-Blued
http://www.legacysports.com/products/howa/howa_baractions.html

Bell And Carlson Medalist Light Tactical Stock http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=142046

Timney Trigger
http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=552716

Harris Bi-Pod (9-13)

I am still up in the air as far as optics go. I really can't spend more than 500 bucks until later on this year when I am planning on getting a leupold mk-4.
I like the idea of a BDC Recticle at the least, if not mil-dot will suffice. Redfield maybe? (165g BTHP Winchester Factory load.)

I guess the question here is, does anyone have better suggestions within the general price range for stocks, triggers, and bipods? Also I cannot find a Savage Barreled Action...it would have to be a 24-26'' heavy barrel in .308. with the AccuTrigger.

I dont think you would go wrong doing either. I think the suggestion that Shadowlid made was a great one, dollar for dollar.

The Sniper Central package did not look all that bad to me for entry level. I would add the Swivel Bipod $30, as well as uping the Magnification to atleast 15X.

A 16X Super Sniper for the scope would be my choice to start off.

Normally you will loose very little on this scope when you upgrade later.

With this package which comes assembled and test fired. You will need to add a Pod Loc to your bipod, an Anti Cant Device to level the weapon (I prefer the scope mounted type), you will need a Rear Bag, and a Log Book with Drop Chart to be in business.
