HTI Desert Tech 50 bmg Muzzle brake removal

Hi Guys,

I plan to replace my factory muzzle brake.

How do I remove it safely without scratching the finish of my HTI 50BMG?

Sometimes brakes come off with a little force.

Then there is Loctite and Rocksett. The fun begins.
May take heat or boiling water.

Do you have a barrel vise?

You could contact HTI and ask what they use on the threads.

On brakes and flash hiders I use antisize on suppressor hosts I use Rocksett.

Desert Tech brakes have a quite strong Loctite compound used. You will NOT remove the brake without heating the threaded section....use a heatgun.
If you do not have a barrel vice, use some pine...or softwood blocks ( 2 halves) and clamp the fluted section in these blocks in a good vice.

Use some brass shim stock on the brake parallels .. You will need quite a bit of heat for the loctite to release...

I'd like to know what the external thread pitch is on the 416 Barrett and 50 bmg factory Desert Tech brake. I know the barrel is M25x1.5, just can't find what the collar threads are other than an airsoft replica showing 1.5 x 18.

I also am curious about the thread pitch of the muzzle brake itself. Wish they make a suppressor that'll fit right onto it w/o me removing the factory ones.

I let me crazy Spear LT sit in water for 28 hours, and it screwed right off. They used Rocksett. But the last DT brake I removed, Holy cow!!!!! Soak it, it won't hurt it

Guardian might make one. They had one over the brake at shot show this week. I'll try to find the video.

Some manufacturers make quick disconnects for their cans.

I have some but they actually suck except as a host.

I have one I need to remove that I rocksett in place with too much rocksett.

I have a new reciever tool so will try and soak it again and see if it will come off without heat.

After looking at my Elite Iron DT408 and my Alpha 50, The 408 can is M22x1.5. It has a larger opening than my Alpha 50 that's supposed to be M25x1.5.

The DT muzzle brake is in M25x1.5, is what they advised me. Looking at a APA 50 BMG break I bought in 1-14” that doesn’t fit my my barrel. DT advised it was the M25x1.5. I just spent $350 for this APA but will probably buy the DT one.
So if you wish to sell the one you remove, let me know….
Hope you can get it removed.
