Hunting & Fishing hunting handicap?

Was at a gun auction today and bumped end up in a conversation with a dad and his 8 year old son who despite being in a wheel chair he loves to just shoot and hunt. It was an awesome conversation to hear and see this kid light up when talked about getting out in the woods. He has yet to kill one from what he told me but he's not giving up from what i gathered from his dad he's yet to kill one for the simple fact couldn't get him in any place good or in a stand with his wheel chair. Kinda had a disappointing ending i could see that look of failure in his dads face when hes trying everything he can but just cant get his soon high enough up to get one down range for his little man to drop the hammer on. I brought up shooting houses and for lack of place to set one on their property that's out of question. Having a 3 year old son i couldn't imagine being able to enjoy that first kill as i did with my dad. So i find my self wondering how many other families have this same problem and would love to see a solution. I hit the drawing board for a while this is just a sketch but with all the hunters here and possible handicapped hunters we can prefect this. Would love feed back ideas for changes and opinions.

My thoughts have a lift system inside light aluminum frame cover that mounted to tree like an electric winch that could run off solar power or have solar powered battery at base of tree. Pretty much same concept of elevator just little more light duty. Base will locking front that flips up base rises up to top of stand same idea as regular stand now like a two man then the base lock into place when all the way at top. Like i said its not perfect but a start i think we could get something like this going and give the ones who have been delt a bad hand a hand up, land lets face it with how the economy and generation hunters going down hill shooters, gun owners, hunters cant afford to lose any more support.

I saw some local quite a few years ago that were on a trailer that we hydraulic operated on a small trailer. Here is a setup on youtube that would be modified to adapt to his wheel chair. I know they are expensive but it would be something the kid could have for a long time.

Yea that would be nice if you could afford to buy one...look like a nice easy set up

I recall seeing one similar. I believe it was a trailer with essentially a scissor lift and electric/hydraulic. IIRC, it had a ramp to run your chair up into it. My uncle had Muscular Dystrophy all his life, very familiar with the problems people in a chair face.

OP, if you had more info, sounds like a fundraiser I'd kick in for the kid and his dad. Get him something he could use as he grew up as well. I've noticed there's also someone making a line of offroad wheelchairs.

My uncle always preferred a wheelchair with the big wheels in the front. They're a lot more stable that way. The smaller wheels in the front tend to make the user "endo" right out of the chair onto the ground as soon as you get off smooth ground. Those little wheels seem to catch everything and nose dive badly.

I've also seen a lock on two adult treestand. Seems like if dad can get his son out to a tree, he could get his son up to a stand like that using a harness and pulley system. The stand I saw had rails and built in seat in the rear which would spare them the trouble of having to bring the chair up into whatever stand being used.

A stationary swivel seat would be an awesome idea as well
