Lots of unemployment usually means more hunters. The people actually have time to hunt now.

Not in my state, I can barely afford to hunt WITH a job, I could never afford it without one.

Reported license sales in WI were the same. The harvest was down 30%.
I don't know if the demographic of hunter changed.
I thought the population of gun hunters was really down in observation. Lodge amd tavern owners I talked to thought the same. Maybe it just in the areas I haunt.
