Well if you been in the what’s your view thread you know my fat ass needs new hunting pants.
Thank God my Sitka stuff still fits.
Just looking for spring turkey hunting. Want something thick that thorns won’t go through.
Need good pockets.
no budget only getting on or two. I live in Kansas so spring turkey can be 30 and snow or 90s and 100 percent humidity.

Sitka stuff rocks. Been raining all day here at Columbia Glaciers in Alaska and I'm warm and dry underneath.

Drake's Non typical line has good endurance jean cut pants. Is a lighter brushed soft shell outer with a fleece inside. Wear by themselves in spring and with layers in winter.

I really like Prana Zion stretch pants. They are extremely comfortable, lightweight, and priced well.

@Bryan W M - Pretty similar on sizing/fit I would say. I really like the KUIU set-ups that say "for mild weather" then just toss some serious long underwear below them. Has worked for me so far.... Usually 210 wt Icebreaker wool for base, an extra later for my core, all depends on how darn cold it is.
they have pretty good venting. they also make a set of long johns with zippers so you can shed them if it gets too warm. Really nice for archery season in CO....

I went out at 16F for Turkeys this spring. Nothing moving or calling... Ended up with a brush blind and wearing a big down coat. woulda froze without that thing sitting that long

@Bryan W M - they also make a set of long johns with zippers so you can shed them if it gets too warm. Really nice for archery season in CO....

KUIU and First Light make them in both regular and boot-length. nothing better than using boot-length long johns with the side zips. Leave your boots laced up, drop your outer later and poof, just like a fat assed middle-aged stripper, you're out of them! Boot-length side zip thermals, one of the best add-ons ever!

While I love KUIU because most of the items are ultra-light, quiet, comfortable, and have venting as first priorities; you have to accept you generally can not have all these things and bulletproof in the same garment.

I havent wrecked my KUIU pants. Yet.

Like anything you use, they are a wear item. And I like them to do a few things really well.
ventilation is huge to me.

@Bryan W M - my buddy just snagged a set of hunting pants from Forloh. Big 30% off Independence Day sale.

I got to check them out yesterday. Might be a bit warmly built for the hottest of turkey hunt days, but do have 15" vents on the thighs to help with that and still worthy checking out

Also made in the USA. and right in line price wise with the big names made in China.

If you're looking at Kuiu, Sitka, First Lite, etc. you should also check out SKRE, Forloh, and my recent new-favorite, Stone Glacier. Kurt at Stone Glacier puts a ton of time and consideration into all his designs and it shows.

I think Stone Glacier packs are assembled in the USA with foreign materials but I didn't think this carried over into the apparel, tag on my DeHavilland pants says Vietnam. Kuiu is Chinese/Japanese, Sitka is Chinese, , First Lite is Vietnamese/Chinese, Pnuma is the same, etc.

I think for made in the USA you're pretty limited to Forloh and a company I've just heard about recently called Duckworth. Kifaru and Mystery Ranch are good for packs.

Voormi is good for USA made wool.
i like their blend better, but they use some wool that isnt US made.

I use Kifaru packs.
They are 10 min away which doesnt suck either.
Some MR packs made overseas now too…..

For solid pattern, PrAna Zion stretch for me.

Camo'd out; Kuiu Attack or Sitka Timberline.

But I like more relaxed fitting pants.

I like the Prana Zions also. I have a green pair and the mud pair. I usually prefer solids in general. I used to poke a little fun at the guys wearing all the Mossy Oak patterns but now I find myself being lured into the vintage Camo lust lol. It would be nice if Prana or Kuhl would make some bottom land pants. Those are my two favorite pants to wear.

Dont sleep on the urban camoflauge. Eddie Bauer Guide Pants. Come in lines and unlined versions. Also have a upland style pant that works pretty well. I hunted in Montana last fall in a foot of snow and 0 degrees several days and was perfectly impressed with the lined version of the pants. Can be found on sale for around 50-60 bucks.

Has anyone tried the Kryptek Valhalla pant?

Most southeast hunters don't have the same need for what you western and northwestern hunters have.

My daughter and I hunt the family farm and we walk from the pasture gate to our stands - furthest being 500 maybe 600 yards walk.

edit: Silent material in the places I hunt cannot be understated. A cold morning in the woods in Georgia and any noise is magnified severely.
