Im not a fan of berger hunting bullets from what ive seen and been around. But they are coming out with the 245 eol 30 cal bullet it justs pulls me to it in a 30 sherman. High bc can also use for targets. Any experience with the eol line of bergers?

Join the contestI forgot all about the 170. I have heard good things about them. Dang its kind of scary 195 are not good. I wonder if the 245 will be good like the 156 and 170. I was gonna get new barrel and build around the 245 for target and hunting but i might just stick with the hornady 225 eldm and try them on mule deer and elkI haven’t heard the best results with the 195’s, and that the 180’s were significantly better.
the 156’s and the 170’s apparently are excellent. I personally haven’t taken any game with either bullet but have a buddy that has taken 2 mulies and 1 pronghorn with the 156. Just a hair over 100 on one mule, 311 on the other and 496 for the pronghorn.
the 170’s have been tested pretty well by a couple of the boys over at rokslide and lrh forum and have been fantastic from close to far!! I have plans of putting together a .277 rig for the 170’s after I’m done with this current build as a light weight hunting rifle.
I guess i was just trying to switch to a bigger high bc bullet to shoot to a mile and use same load for hunting instead of switching around. Ive had great luck with 212 eldx my go to bullet not trying to create a crazy thing here. Just looking for info on the newer bullets from berger thats all.Ooooooooor , just smash all the critters with 180 and 215 Hybrids like everyone else and quit trying to make it harder than it has to be. The ground work has been laid out for you for years , quit trying to roll the Jimmy cap UP your dong.

What is speed on those?Berger 156 6.5 PRC frontal heart shot. DRT View attachment 7262643View attachment 7262644
Bartlein 28 inch 1-7 loaded w RL-26. No signs of pressure. That is great speed with the 6.5 prc and the bigger 156
My dad has a 6.5-300 weatherby he shoots the 160 matrix bullet 3180 easy and great luck with it but cant get the bullets no more from Canada. Very impressive manBartlein 28 inch 1-7 loaded w RL-26. No signs of pressure.
Awesome thank you for great infoI have used the 7mm 175 Elite on game. Works awesome.
I have loaded a LOT of 195s in numerous 28 Noslers, and all have Crushed game. A LOT of game.
I load the 156s in my 6.5SS, and have only shot a few coyotes with them. Worked like a champ. Hope to get a deer tag this year to try them.
I have loaded the 6.5mm 140 Elite for a few rifles, all have dumped game quick and in a hurry.
I use Hybrids in most of my personal rifles. 6mm 105, 6.5mm 130 & 140, 7mm 180, .308 215 & 230.
Also use a couple Elites. 6.5mm 156 & 7mm 175.
Nothing but praise for them.
Don't overlook the SMKs either.
What caliber you going with for the 245?6.5x284 Norma +P -- Berger 156. This was at 317 and broke the offside leg on exit, honestly it was going too fast. This rifle took both of my and my dad's speed goats this year and my muley. All were DRTView attachment 7264090
I have been using Berger 230s in my 30s for years, and am towards the end of a new build around the 245s. I have not had any issues with berger bullets specifically, however I have had issues with certain calibers (specifically 7s, but that's my experience might not be others). Once my 270 goes nuclear I will go to 27 Nosler and give the 170s a try.
Right now i have a 300 win mag that is throated very long i run the 225 eldm at 2929 with h1000 in 28inch barrel. But that 30 nosler looks pretty good too with long throat and 245. Im gonna try the 245 in mine hoping to get 2830ishIt's odd, but 300 Win Mag +P. I wanted something that I could get box ammo anywhere in a pinch. Using the reamer specs Broz posted up years ago for the 215. So it won't be a 300 terminator by any means, but I'm hoping that the +P throat will let me run N565 instead of 570, and get into the low 2900s.
Well there is actually a pretty good comparison out there of the 300WM and the 30 Nosler. Same gentleman I mentioned above. He was able to max both out at 3100 using N570 and 215s. So in that situation he didn't find there to be much difference, granted that is a saami nosler and the win mag was long.Right now i have a 300 win mag that is throated very long i run the 225 eldm at 2929 with h1000 in 28inch barrel. Im gonna run the 300 win mag til the barrel wears out then switch. Unless i get good results with the 245 in my 300 win mag. H1000 might be the ticket or switching to another powder. When are you testing the 245? The 30 nosler has alot more case capacity like 98Well there is actually a pretty good comparison out there of the 300WM and the 30 Nosler. I'll be interested to hear your followup on the Nosler. It will be cool to see what these 245s can do come bear season and then next fall
H1000 is a damned fine powder, but a bit slow sometimes. I bumped over to the Viht offerings to pick up some speed. Well the rifle is with Carlock now getting a +P throat cut then its just cerakote and waiting on optics. I'm waiting on an NX8, so i may throw an old NXS on it for load development. Nice keep me updated on results. Mine i have getting the actions switched from rem 700 to defiance tenacity and gotta set barrel back but my load should be close to same then do the testing on 245. Yeah i might need to try something other than h1000 just good twmp stableH1000 is a damned fine powder, but a bit slow sometimes. I bumped over to the Viht offerings to pick up some speed. Will do, you do the same. Take a long hard look at Viht N570. It can be difficult to find, but it's stable and will buy back some speedNice keep me updated on results. I talked to Berger about some load data retumbo seemed like it was pretty good reloading 33 and Hodgins 1000 I didn't ask about the other powders 26 inch barrel 3.545 they loaded them anywhere from 26 50 2670 velocity so I was hoping with my 28-inch barrel long throat I can get to 2800Will do, you do the same. I've had first hand failures to expand with 215's, and blow ups on impact.
Also witnessed a 300 EH blow to bits on an elk shoulder blast fall at 800 yards.
My advice.. check out the new Barnes 212 LRX bore rider, I'll bet if you run the balistics between that bullet and the 245 it'll be a wash in your 30 Sherman.
How did you clean tips out? Just got the new 245 and alot of tips need some help lolI’ve hunted with the 215 Berger’s for years and have had excellent results. I clean out the tips and have dropped everything I’ve shot and it was impressive. Few months ago my buddy used my rifle and ended up shooting a sheep at 60 yards. The animal expired in less than a minute but the damage was horrible. I would say it is not my experience that this bullet is the best option for close encounters. Move it out a few hundred yards and it becomes effective in my experience.
Most folks just use a wire bitHow did you clean tips out? Just got the new 245 and alot of tips need some help lol

I got a 4x4 mule dear with 180 HYb last season. I hit him in the belly the first shot as he quartered away at the last second. Follow up shot dropped him. My bro used my gun next morning good shot on a 4x4 walked 8-10 feet and died.Im not a fan of berger hunting bullets from what ive seen and been around.
