So the Sako TRG was technically designed in 1989… as the TRG 21.

Based on a Valmet design from 1984.

Meaning my state-of-the-freaking-art TRG-22 is now a Vintage Sniper Rifle. That is sort of not fair.

getting old is not a problem it's a privilege when life is so darn short everyday ach and pain are all blessings the problem is when you stop getting any older that's just a suck feast so cheer up brian somethings in life are bad they can really make you mad , while other things just make you want to swear and curse . When your chewing on life's gristle don't grumble give a whistle and this will help things turn out for the best and

Hi,

I guess we can feel old together because when I see that picture all I can visualize is Doc76251 throwing that scope and spotting scope around to see peoples faces when they miss his throws.

Sincerely,
Theis
Yup… Doc was a good shit!!!

On the bright side, I’ll be dead of old age before my Hoplite is considered vintage. So I have that to look forward to!! sirhr

Never would had guessed in a million years that you were a TRG guy - how do you like the factory folder?

I snatched all the KRG gear ages ago, put it on one time and instantly took it off. Was not a fan at all and went back to the factory solid stock.

Havent met many rifles that have a trigger as nice as those IMO. Mk13 might be edging in as new favorite, but damn that Sako is a delight.

Did the krg folder lock up tight? I really want a trg with a folder and 18-20” barrel, but not if the krg folder isn’t rock solid.

Love the folder. But it’s not worth the price differential the factory wanted for them. When I bought mine the LE rep did not have the fixed stock version I wanted. But he had a factory demo rifle with 100 rounds through it and a folding stock that I got for the fixed stock price. I was on that like Oprah on a baked ham.

And yes it is a very nice folding stock and is probably the best rifle I own accuracy wise. We’ll see what happens when the Aspis comes in, though.

The TRG And the AI are definitely in a league of their own

the older you get, the longer your scopes get. Thats a fact. That USO says you're only about 72, when you turn 75 you'll need to add more sunshades or swap to a Unertl UV.
Unfortunately, my deck faces due west, which in the mountains means I have the sun right in my eyes in fall... Normally, just run the short killflash. Not that day!

Also, your magazines tend to sag further, until they almost reach your knees.....

No worries. I have several rifles that were born before I was. 😁

I think the rifle before the Sako TRG-21 was Tikka's M65A , which seems to be one of the first chassis type stocks wrapped in wood , it has a std 2 lug bolt like a Rem 700 sort of , But in the rear it has a special nylon bushing that makes the bolt throw very very smooth .
