I don't suppose we have any Beretta Semiautomatic Shotgun gurus here do we?

Specifically looking for someone smarter on the Beretta 1301 Comp in particular...

Here's where I'm getting stuck today- I purchased two 1301 Comp 24's (sight unseen as it was an internet purchase) and was fully expecting that I'd need to purchase Beretta's bolt shroud kit to address the one major "flaw" of the design...

To illustrate what I thought I was going to need to purchase...

(it's that horseshoe looking plastic thing on the left): https://www.beretta.com/en-us/product/1301-bolt-shroud-kit-EU00074

"Problem" is that's not accurate to the part presently on the 1301 Comp's (at least the ones I acquired) and I have to believe I'm working with a Gen 2 design. This is what I'm seeing (again likely will only be evident if one is fairly familiar with Beretta designs)...

So... fairly different and I'm at a loss as to what I've got & what I need to do to get these competition ready.

Anyone better informed/more knowledgable on what I'm looking at as compared to what I expected to work with?

    Thanks in advance.

I do not shoot competitive shotgun, however I do run a 1301 as my house howitzer. You are correct that the first photo was the original design, and mine has the same design yours have. If I am not mistaken, that design alleviated the need for the fix.

I could be wrong, but I don’t think I am.

Those are Gen2 bolt catches. The pad is retained by a leg on the bottom that keeps it from sliding off.

Take the gun apart and look inside the receiver whole actuating the catch. You should see how it pivots when you press on the muzzle end of the pad, but not the rear.
