I got my Variable Gantry Mount today!!

Re: I got my Variable Gantry Mount today!!

Super....

I just stuck mine back on one of my Remington 541 in anticipation of some local long range matches next summer. Thinking I'll prob do 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 for my settings. Let me know what you set yours at. Waiting on another set of Leupold low QRW rings before starting on the presets. Some folks don't like them but I have no problem taking the scope off and making the adjustment while getting my settings and it's dead nuts on when I put the scope back on. Just have to be careful in initial placement of the rings and sliding the scope back tight the same each time before snugging the ring levers up.

Also just put the other one back on my Freedom so I'll also try to get videos of both guns while getting the settings out to 500 yards with both. Ain't this fun ?????????????????

Hope yours works as good as ours have. Keep us informed.

Re: I got my Variable Gantry Mount today!!

Got it all mounted up. Between the already low cheek weld and the high base i decided to build a adjustable cheek rest. hopefully i get some time tomorrow to shoot it :bthumb:

Re: I got my Variable Gantry Mount today!!

Ive been very busy since i have got this mount. But i have got a chance to get out and shoot it. This thing is going to be sweet! I was shooting 500 and 600 yards holding cross hairs on target!!!!

I will be doing a more detailed review when i get back home and things return to normal

Re: I got my Variable Gantry Mount today!!

Went shooting today, the new target is fun, Hit the small one a few times, the bigger one is not as hard to hit as i thought it would be. it was fun. I have the VGM set up to hold right on at 500 yards. works great!

Re: I got my Variable Gantry Mount today!!

Quite a interesting setup,I've worked with Topstrap and his different setups, we have had some real success !!!

Re: I got my Variable Gantry Mount today!!

Interesting concept. I tried something like it some time back on an experimental basis. This seems to do it a lot better than any of my attempts. I had issues with scope axis height. I wish you and them all the best.

Re: I got my Variable Gantry Mount today!!

These things are pretty sweet.

I know the guy who built the prototypes, not sure how much of the development he was involved in. My first was a direct mount on my Wthby MarkV but it raised the center of the scope higher than I liked. It was a 10 position mount. I traded it back to him and got one of the last prototypes of the ones you have (5 position) but still haven't mounted it. I am planning to use it on an AR build at some point.

Re: I got my Variable Gantry Mount today!!

I don't think this set-up is one from Miracle Machine Works. The ones I have from Chris are bolted straight to receiver. I liked Chris's gantry mount so much I even had him modify the mounting holes to go on my T2K. It's good to see that others like his work so much they are making knock-offs or imitations.

Re: I got my Variable Gantry Mount today!!

Those are from Chris, they aren't knockoffs. The 10 position I have bolts to the receiver and the 5 positions sit on top of the mount. I'm sure he can make anything a customer needs or wants.

Re: I got my Variable Gantry Mount today!!

No it's one of Chris's mounts. He is now making them to so that they can fit onto any picitany (sp) rail. I got a five position from him last year at Hardrock that is made just like the one above.
