I made a little dope book

I wanted to get the DA calculator from Adaptive but I shoot a 6.5 at 2750 FPS and it wasn't happening so I ended up making myself a dope book.

I plotted a DA reference using the grid on MS Paint.

I put the DA grid on the front cover and a wind observation page on the back cover that I got from my Impact Data book.

Then I put my data inside for every 10 degrees from 10-110 degrees. I did this because I calculated (right or wrong) about 10 fps increase for every 10 degrees increase. I can reference density altitudes every thousand feet from -3000 to 10000 feet.

I put windage data on the back page.

I printed it all out on card stock being careful to print on the same part of the page on front and back and had Staples laminate the pages and found that they could put a little spiral binder on it and it came out pretty cool. It cost me about $10 bucks total.

I keep it in here.

This is for my 6.5 Creedmoor with a 24" barrel. The velocity is +/- 2750 @ 70 degrees. I'm using 42.2 grains of 4350 with 140 AMAX.

It was pretty tedious inputting all that data from JBM but I just spaced it out doing a card or two a day till I had it all. If I find a good load with RL 17 or something I may have to do it all again?

I haven't tested it yet but I did find some notes I made out to about 800 yards to compare it to and it was right on! Hopefully this will get me in the ballpark and I can make whatever adjustments are needed to get on target with a follow up shot.

Re: I made a little dope book

The FDAC guys need to produce a smaller version like that which will fit in a pocket or a little stock pack. Would be great. Blank slides for the guys that want to use their own data too!

I think every 40 degrees would be plenty. It would save a little space and some work too.

No harm done though if you want to use more data or if you're just too anal.

Re: I made a little dope book

Good idea book looks great. How much tweaking did you find yourself doing to get JBM to match up? I love JBM BUT really have to play with it to get my real time data to match.

Re: I made a little dope book

Not much tweaking so far but that is because I haven't tested it extensively. I just don't have that much ammo on hand. Like I said, it did match my notes out to about 800 yards at my local range.
That'll have to do for now.
