Has anyone used this TRUGLO 1" scope mount and if so do you like it? I want to change mine because it is 1.375" to center of scope tube from the top of the rail. The Truglo is supposed to be 1.5" to center of scope tube which is exactly what I want plus the zoom ring on my scope binds to the split mounts and this one doesn't extend under the eye piece.

You have the mount in the rear position mounted backwards. The mount is designed to give you a forward offset for more eye relief which is why that magnification adjustment knob is nearly running into the mount ring. The Nikon P-Series actually has a 1.5" centerline. I'd suggest turning the rear section around, pushing your scope forward and trying that before going with the Truglo as they have the same centerline. You'll also be able to collapse that stock once you have a significant amount of eye relief with the mount corrected.

Example.... This gentleman that I had built a lower for ended up PM'ing me asking for advice on a mount that he thought just didn't feel right. Clearly, it's backwards, not to mention that it's entirely mounted on the handguard. The cantilever design is intended to extend eye relief on limited rail space without overlapping the gap between receiver and handguard as the available real estate might not allow a person the eye relief that's appropriate for the scope. He turned it around and remounted the optic, all was good to go...

This is a common mix up btw. I see rifles on gunbroker with optics mounted like this all the time, and people end up selling the mount thinking that's what the issue is. Eventually, you learn through a little trial and error.

If you look at my picture closely the eye piece is in the right position for the eye relief. When you turn the rear P-SERIES around it binds with the zoom adjustment ring which stops me from turning it. Also the P-SERIES mounts measure from the "top" of the Picatinny rail to the center of the scope tube 1.375. Measure yours again you are measuring from the bottom of the clamp not the top of the rail IMHO.

The scope is a Bushnell AR/223 with 4.5-18x40mm. I chose it because it's zoom and click adjustments of the turrets are as accurate as my Vortex PST FFP MOS 6-24 scope which is as accurate as a NF and the glass is clearer, sharper with good contrast compared to my PST and my Leupolds IMHO.

PS: Because of the picture angle the scope looks like it is to far back. Actually it is exactly right above the end of the rail which gives me perfect eye relief.

The P-Series mounts were only designed like they are for purposes related to Nikon's P-Series compact scopes, which can be mounted like so:

Considering you don't have a P-Series optic, you should be mounting in standard cantilever style like the factory pic above shown with both the P-300BLK and Leupold Mark AR.

Note how the P-SERIES mount goes under the zoom adjustment ring then look at my picture and you will see that the Bushnell adjustment has a larger diameter. The Bushnell ring will bind on the P-Series mount when mounted that way. Also I just measured the P-SERIES mount from the "TOP" of the Picatinny rail and the center of the scope tube and it is 1.375 inches give or take a few thousands. The height is determined from the "TOP" of the rail not the bottom of the clamp.

When I bought the Bushnell AR/223 scope with 4.5-18x40mm zoom it was the only one I could find with up to 18 power and it is much clearer than the other scopes I have including a few high end scopes. AND the tracking of the turrets are just as accurate as my Vortex 6-24 PST FFP MOA scope which is as accurate as a NF. It is in expensive, but a very good scope. The only negative I have found is the eye piece thickness.

Even in the pic on post #6 & #7 the zoom rings have high points to help you turn the zoom. In both pictures it looks like when adjusting the zoom they will hit the mount which will stop the total function of the zoom. (?)

I even had to take the rear sight off because the P-SERIES mount was to low. My other mount has a riser and rings on top which measures 1.5 inches, but I don't like the look of it. At 1.5" I can put the rear sight back on and this gives me a very comfortable cheek weld and the zoom does not bind.

There's no pissing back and forth. Just discussing an issue TP is having with a mount to understand the issue and make a suggestion.

Pink, now I follow you brotha. I thought you meant that your zoom ring was binding at the top because your rear mounting ring is so far back. Now that I understand that the zoom ring is binding at the bottom of the mount, I can see were your issue is. Even though the CL is 1.5"ish, those PSeries look to have a bunch more material on that part of the mount. I think the Truglo would work, but couldn't vouch for quality etc. I'd definitely recommend the AeroPrecision ultralight mounts. They are 1.5" CL and are extremely well made. Come in a 2.98 ounces. I think they're around $80. Would be a huge upgrade over the P-Series my man!

I looked on their web site and they were out of stock. I saw a guy that had these and I'll send for them tomorrow. I can position them any place I want. I take very good care of my toys and if I don't trip and fall I should be good for a long time.
